    Who: 6 aboard, 6 fatalities
    Why: In the village of La Palud-sur-Verdon, a Eurocopter group helicopter crashed, killing the six men aboard, including employees of Eurocopter. The newly assembled chipper was en route to the Albanian army when it apparently “caught a EDF power cable.”

    Two of those aboard may have been Albanian. Climbers were dispatched to assist with the recovery.

    Angel Flight Emergency Landing


    What: Houston to Decatur
    Where: Decatur Municipal Airport
    When: Sept 6 2012, 10:30 a.m.
    Who: 4 aboard
    Why: No one was injured when Pilot Mark Moran made a hard landing in Decatur when returning a passenger from cancer treatment and surgery. Moran is an Angel Flight program pilot, providing free flights to sick people who cannot afford their treatments. Moran came in too fast and would have performed a go round but he didn’t feel he had enough lift to make it over powerlines at the end of the runway. He veered left off the end of the runway through a barbed wire fence. Fire crews sprayed down the leaked fuel.

    Pobeda Airlines Plane Rejects Take Off due to Fire Indication

    PobedaPobeda Airlines flight DP-450 rejected take off from Tyumen, Russia, on June 17th.

    The plane was accelerating to take off for Vnukovo International Airport, Russia, when the crew received a fire indication. The pilot slowed down the aircraft and returned to the apron.

    There were 187 passengers and 6 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    Los Angeles Dodgers’ Plane Diverts to LAX due to Mechanical Issues

    United airlinesUnited Airlines Flight 2207 had to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, California, on June 14.

    The plane, carrying the Los Angeles Dodgers, was heading from San Diego International Airport to Dallas, Texas, when it experienced a mechanical issue and had to be diverted to LAX.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 176 people aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the team members.

    100 Dana ground victims demand compensation

    More than 100 ground victims are currently demanding compensation for property damage from the Dana plane crash last June. Claims running into billions of naira.

    At one point, they were told that the Lagos government planned to take the land to build a memorial to the crash victims. Owners have to provide valid certificates of occupancy to begin the process.

    News agencies report that N2.2bn is the total sum to be paid to the relations of the 153 that died in the Dana aircraft but payment information is unverified, and many say their claims have not been satisfied. Likewise unconfirmed is the statement that insurance companies have paid an initial settlement of N418.94m to relations of 85 victims.

    Only two relatives have reported they received their “full” settlement.

    Small Plane Crash in California Leaves Two Dead

    A small plane crashed just outside Santa Paula, California, on March 31st.

    The RV-6A aircraft was carrying two people when it crashed into a storage building and caught fire.

    Both occupants of the plane were killed in the crash. No one on the ground was injured.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.
