    Uzbekistan Airways Flight Returns to St. Petersburg due to Engine Failure

    Uzbekistan AirwaysUzbekistan Airways flight HY-636 had to return and make an emergency landing in St. Petersburg, Russia, on August 7th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane took off for Fergana, Uzbekistan, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported an engine failure.

    The plane landed uneventfully after burning off excess fuel. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    U.S. Air Force Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Alexandria

    HelicopterA U.S. Air Force chopper made an emergency landing at a school in Alexandria, Virginia, on April 30.

    Local officials said the helicopter experienced mechanical issues and landed just next to William Ramsay Elementary School at around 10:30 a.m.

    No injuries were reported.

    Cessna 180 Crashed in Front Yard of a New York Home

    CessnaA Cessna 180, which took off from Heber Airpark, hit the trees and crashed into the front yard of a house at 303 Brownville Road in Gansevoort, Northumberland, New York, at about 5:40 pm, on August 2.

    The plane had two people aboard when it went upside down in the yard; both of them died at the spot. The police identified them as the pilot, Ciprian M. Ivascu, 33, of Newburgh, and the passenger, Jon C. Stomski, 61, of Milton.

    Nancy Rouse, the owner of the house and a witness to deadly crash, said, “I seen the plane hit the top of the trees and then nose-dive into the ground…It was right in my front yard, and I knew they had to be hurt, so I just run and called 911.”

    The plane was owned by Saratoga Skydiving Adventures.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the accident.

    Virgin Australia Plane Returns to Auckland

    Virgin australiaVirgin Australia flight VA-91 had to return and make an emergency landing in Auckland, New Zealand, on July 21st.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Apia, Samoa, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a cabin pressurization problem.

    The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

    American Airlines Emergency Landing in NY

    What: American Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Miami to New York
    Where: New York
    When: Feb 17th 2012
    Why: On approach to New York, the plane developed problems with the left engine and pilots shut down the engine.

    They made a safe landing with emergency services on stand-by.

    Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Boston

    Lufthansa flight LH-401 made an emergency landing in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 26th.

    The Airbus A380-800 plane heading from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, to Frankfurt, Germany, was diverted due to oil fumes on board.

    The plane landed safely. Several passengers and crew members needed medical attention after landing.
