A small plane crashed in the middle of a street near Whiteman Airport, Pacoima, California, on February 22nd.
It is believed that the fixed-wing, single-engine Mooney aircraft suffered engine failure before it went down in the 10100 block of North San Fernando Road, clipping several cars.
No injuries were reported.
The incident is being investigated.

Why: The pilot reported a loss of oil pressure. Also, the nose wheel of the single-engine Cessna did not come down, which was verified by a flyby for the tower.
On landing, the prop hit the runway. The Maugansville Volunteer Fire Co arrived after the plane had landed.

Why: The Hindustan Aeronautic Ltd (HAL) trainer crashed Thursday near Hosur in Tamil Nadu. The pilots pilots Wg Cdr. Patra and Mathur ejected and survived, although they had several injuries.
Since 1968, the HAL jets have been used to replace the Kiran trainers. This particular jet had crashed before (at Aero India in February 2007) and had been repaired and returned to service.
This is the “prototype” which careened off the runway when its canopy opened just as the plane was getting airborne at the Aero India 2007 exposition.
It is no wonder that in India, aviation is having problems. Between a a questionable supply of pilots with legitimate licenses, problems with air traffic control, and now recycled planes which may not be providing top protection to those who have to ride in them. Fortunately for these two pilots, the ejector seat worked and they survived the crash, albeit somewhat the worse for wear. The incident is under investigation.
Qatar Airways flight QR-708 had to make an emergency landing at Lajes Field, Portugal, after encountering severe turbulence on December 4th.
The plane was heading from Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, to Doha, Qatar, when it ran into severe turbulence that injured 3 people.
The plane landed safely. The injured were taken to hospital.
A small single-seater aircraft made a crash landing in the ocean just off a beach located on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, on September 24.
The pilot, Greg Harding, 59, who is a former Alaska bush pilot, reported that he had to make crash landing because the plane ran out of fuel. He said that he was on its way to Dillingham Airport, when “the engine just quit.”
According to Harding, he first thought of landing on the beach but there were about a dozen people on the shore.
The Piper PA-25-260 plane landed safely in around 5 ft of water. Harding remained uninjured.
The aircraft belongs to North Shore Aircraft Leasing Co. The company’s owner Ana “Suzy” Gromacki admired Harding’s skills and noted that he was not likely to survive of the plane had overturned.
The FAA is investigating.
A small plane crashed in the town of Mukwa in Waupaca County, Wisconsin, on November 6th.
The plane went down on Faskell Road, near the runway of a private airport Poppy’s Flying Acres.
The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was injured in the accident and was taken to a hospital in New London.
Sgt. Kevin Studzinski of the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office said the neighbors had pulled the pilot out of the aircraft. “The plane is considered a total loss, but that’s not what’s important… Due to their heroic actions the pilot is still alive today,” he said.
