    Why: Ten minutes after takeoff, smoke was smelled in the plane’s cabin and cockpit. The flight diverted to Albany and made a safe landing.

    No one was injured, although there was some praying and some bonding going on.

    The team waited around for a replacement plane which took them to Bradford, Pennsylvania where they took a bus to the game.

    LATAM Brasil Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Cargo Smoke Indication

    LATAM Airlines Brasil flight JJ-3067 had to make an emergency landing in Brasilia, Brazil, on March 3rd.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane flying from Recife, Brazil, was descending toward Brasilia when the crew declared an emergency due to a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Crabtree Accident Preliminary Investigation Out

    Why: The preliminary report on the Nov 26 crash of a 2 seat kit plane says a witness saw one wing fold upward during a turn, and the wing apparently hit the canopy, shattering its glass.

    A wing was lost in flight and found thousands of feet from the location of the wreckage.

    Aircraft owner Timothy Dean Carter of Portland and commercial pilot Jeff Earl Kropf of Halsey were killed in the crash.

    New York Bound Delta Plane Diverts to Washington due to Engine Issue

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Air Lines flight 1086 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Baltimore–Washington International Airport, Maryland, Washington, at around 10:30 A.M. on September 30.

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-90 aircraft, flying from Atlanta, Georgia, to New York, had to be landed in emergency after some issue with one of its engines.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 109 passengers aboard remained safe.

    Iraqi Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Istanbul Ataturk Airport

    Iraqi AirwaysAn Iraqi Airways plane made an emergency landing at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, Turkey, on June 22nd.

    The plane took off for Erbil, Iraq, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported engine failure.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unhurt.

    Where: San Clemente Island
    When: October 30 2009 7:10 p.m
    Who: 7 on board the plane; 2 on the helicopter
    Why: A Coast Guard plane and a Marine Corps helicopter have collided at San Clemente Island off the coast of California. A search has ensued with three Coast Guard cutters, an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter, four navy vessels and multiple helicopters.
