    Small Plane Crashes at Mansfield Municipal Airport; 2 Dead

    A small plane crashed at Mansfield Municipal Airport, Massachusetts, on February 23rd.

    The Cessna 172 plane was carrying an instructor pilot and his student when it went down and caught fire.

    Both occupants of the plane were killed in the crash. They were identified as Sydney Miti, 31, of Waltham, and Julian Lattermann, 18, of Dover.

    Small Plane Crashes in Illinois; 1 Killed

    A small plane crashed into a cornfield in Marengo, Illinois, on December 9th.

    The plane went down near Meyer Road, just north of Pleasant Grove Road.

    Authorities found a man’s body at the crash site. According to McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski, “An autopsy will be performed Monday morning in the McHenry County Coroner’s Office…No scientific identification of the victim has been made at this time, so no name can be released until this is accomplished.”

    The plane is registered to Rob Sherman of Poplar Grove.

    Qatar Airways Plane Diverts to Zurich

    qatar airwaysQatar Airways flight QR-778 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Zurich, Switzerland, on November 19th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane heading from Miami, Florida, to Doha, Qatar, was diverted after the crew noticed smoke on the flight deck.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    FLT 243 EXPERIENCED AN EXPLOSIVE DECOMPRESSION AND STRUCTURAL FAILURE AT FL240 WHILE ENROUTE FROM HILO, HI, TO HONOLULU, HI. APRX 18 FT OF CABIN SKIN AND STRUCTURE AFT OF THE CABIN ENTRANCE DOOR AND ABOVE THE PASSENGER FLOORLINE SEPARATED FROM THE ACFT. ONE FLT ATTENDANT WHO WAS STANDING IN THE AISLE WAS SWEPT OVERBOARD. THE FLT DIVERTED TO MAUI AND A LANDING WAS ACCOMPLISHED.     Cessna Crashes Fence in Chile, 3 Aboard


    On Feb 25, 2013, in Puella, Puerto Varas Chile, a Cessna 152 struck a fence and crashed. Three aboard survived.

    The plane was taking off from a ski slope,but did not sustain adequate altitude, and struck a fence.

    The pilot was Alfonso Ruiz Tagle.

    Carabineros de la Tenencia Casa Pangue was apparently not notified and responded to the scene in the afternoon. The accident is under investigation.

    Southwest Airlines Plane Lands Safely in Kansas City with Cracked Windshield

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-718 suffered a cracked windshield on the way to Kansas City, Missouri, on November 28th.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane flying from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Virginia, was descending toward Kansas City when the captain’s windshield cracked.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
