    Delta Diverts to Dayton

    What: Delta/Comair Canadair CRJ-100 en route from Columbus, OH to Minneapolis, MN
    Where: Dayton
    When: Sep 16 2010
    Who: 50 aboard
    Why: After takeoff, the plane alerted that it developed engine problems. Pilots diverted the flight to Dayton, and made a safe landing.

    A few hours later, passengers were provided an alternative flight to Minneapolis.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Port of Spain Airport

    American Airlines flight AA-2282 made an emergency landing in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, on May 29th.

    The plane took off for Miami, Florida, but had to turn back after the crew heard some unusual noise from the cargo hold and suspected somebody might be stuck inside.

    The plane landed back safely.

    The airline said a mechanical issue was the cause of the noise in cargo hold.

    Tire, Landing Gear Fail on Sky Airlines Antalya Landing

    What: Sky Airlines Boeing 737-400 en route from Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (Germany) to Antalya (Turkey)
    Where: Antalya on
    When: Oct 10th 2011
    Who: 156 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: After a normal flight, on landing in Turkey, the plane’s right main gear collapsed when a right tire burst.

    One cause for a burst tire is a hard or fast landing, or the state of the runway. The cause has not yet been determined.

    In the accident photos (according to AV gossip), the logo has been painted out with white paint.

    Japan-Bound Delta Flight Returns to Atlanta on Reports of Smoke

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta flight 95 had to turn back for emergency landing at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Georgia, on January 18.

    The Boeing 777, en-route from Atlanta to Narita, Japan, had to return after a pilot of another flight reported smoke coming out of its landing gear.

    The plane landed safely and all 308 people aboard remained unharmed.

    Firefighters and technicians inspected the plane and cleared it at around 1 p.m. after which it again took off for Japan.

  • AZ Schoolyard Landing

    What: plane en route from Glendale Municipal Airport
    Where: Villa de Paz Elementary School near 103rd Avenue and Camelback Road, Phoenix
    When: April 15, 2009 9:30 a.m. Wednesday
    Who: pilot and co-pilot suffered minor injuries
    Why: The pilot cut the engine, coasted across a field, hit a fence and ended up in a schoolyard behind a classroom.

    United Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Cracked Windshield

    HT_United_Airlines1_MEM_151006_12x5_1600United Airlines flight UA-51 had to return and make an emergency landing in Newark, New Jersey, on October 13th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Madrid, Spain, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a cracked windshield.

    The plane landed safely. All 221 people aboard remained unharmed.
