    J-Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Osaka-Itami International Airport

    J AirJ-Air flight JL-2123 had to return and make an emergency landing at Osaka-Itami International Airport in Japan, on May 11th.

    The plane took off for Hakodate, Japan, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported possible bleed air leak from left engine.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 66 people aboard remained safe.

    PIA Flight Makes Safe Landing in Pakistan after Bird Strike

    Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-760 made a safe landing at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, Pakistan, on December 23rd.

    The Boeing 777-200 flying from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was approaching the runway when its left hand engine ingested a bird.

    The plane landed safely.

    All people aboard remained unharmed.

    Vibrating Boeing in Russia

    What: A Skyexpress Boeing 737-500 en route from Moscow Vnukovo to Sochi (Russia)
    Where: Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport
    When: Apr 4th 2009
    Who: 69 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: When instrumentation revealed unacceptable (dangerous) vibration of the left hand engine, the pilot shut down the left engine down, and burn off fuel before landing back at the airport of origin an hour after takeoff. There were no injuries.

    Via Airlines Flight Diverts to Pittsburgh due to Loss of Cabin Pressure

    Via Airlines flight VC-841 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on December 29th.

    The plane heading from LaGuardia Airport, New York, to Indianapolis, Indiana, was diverted due to loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane, carrying Butler University’s Basketball Team, landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Virgin Atlantic Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Gatwick Airport

    Virgin Atlantic flight VS-34 made an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport, England, on August 31st.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane flying from Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda, was on final approach to Gatwick Airport when the crew went around reporting issues with nose wheel steering and brakes.

    The plane subsequently landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    American Airlines Plane Diverts to North Carolina due to Engine Issue

    American EagleAmerican Airlines flight AA-2428 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Charlotte, North Carolina, on November 10.

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-83, flying from Raleigh–Durham International Airport, Morrisville, North Carolina, to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, had to divert due to an issue with one of its engines.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.
