What: Westjet Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from Calgary to Halifax
Where: Winnipeg
When: Jul 6th 2010
Who: 131 on board
Why: While en route, a passenger attempted to open a door to the plane. The flight diverted to Winnipeg where the passenger was detained and taken into custody to be charged with “endangering safety of an aircraft and interference with flight crew.” After a nearly three hour delay, the flight continued to Halifax.
AirAsia flight AK-10 made an emergency landing in Penang, Malaysia, on November 23rd.
The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Chennai, India, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was diverted after the crew reported an engine issue.
The plane landed safely.
Hawaiian Airlines flight HA-43 had to return and make an emergency landing at San Jose International Airport, California, on April 18th.
The Boeing 767-300 heading to Honolulu, Hawaii, had to return due to a problem with one of its engines.
The plane landed safely.
All 252 passengers and 11 crew members remained safe.

What: Go Air Airbus A320-200 en route from Indore to New Delhi
Where: en route
When: Jul 17th 2010
Who: 134 passengers and 6 crew
Why: While en route, the Go Air Airbus encountered a bird. The plane returned to Indore and made a safe landing. Mechanical damage occurred to the plane, although it is not noted exactly where, or if the bird was ingested in the engine.
The flight was cancelled and passengers were rebooked.

What: Czech Airlines Boeing 737-500 en route from Sofia to Prague
Where: Sofia
When: Jan 18th 2011
Who: 30 passengers
Why: While en route, the pilots encountered mechanical problems with the plane.
They diverted to Hungary where they made a safe landing. Mechanics in Hungary made repairs.
A United Express jet made an emergency landing at North Central West Virginia Airport in Bridgeport, West Virginia, on January 25.
The ERJ 145 regional plane was heading from Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia to Dayton, Ohio when the crew reported engine trouble and requested emergency landing.
The plane landed uneventfully at around 6 p.m. and no one was injured.
The aircraft was taken for inspection.
