Why: While on route, the flight experienced severe turbulence. Fortunately the plane landed safely; however, the turbulence damaged the plane and cancelled the return trip so that the plane’s damage could be addressed.

What: SAS Scandinavian Airlines/ Cimber Air Canadair CRJ-100 en route from Turku Finland to Copenhagen Denmark
Where: Turku

Who: 43 passengers and 3 crew
Why: After takeoff, the plane developed a problem with the left engine and it was shut down. The crew returned the plane to the Turku airport and made a safe landing.
Southwest Airlines flight WN-1511 had to return and make a precautionary landing at Oakland International Airport, Oakland, California, on July 2nd.
The Boeing 737-300 had taken off for Austin, Texas, when the crew decided to return after reporting an engine problem.
The plane landed safely. All people onboard remained unharmed.
The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.
What: Delta Boeing 757 en route from Atlanta to Seattle
Where: Great Falls International Airport
When: October 23, 2011, 12:30 pm
Who: 177 passengers, 1 emergency
Why: While en route, a passenger aboard flight 129 became unconscious.
The pilots diverted to Great Falls where they made an emergency landing, and delivered the passenger to an ambulance which took her to Benefits Health System, facilitated by the Montana Air National Guard Fire Department.
The flight took off again, promptly.

What: Cathay Pacific Airbus A330-300 en route from Singapore (Singapore) to Jakarta
Where: Singapore
When: May 16th 2011
Who: 136 passengers
Why: After takeoff, the right engine developed problems. Twenty minutes into the flight, the plane started to shake, and the plane was “plunged into darkness.” There was a stall in the #2 engine, which banged twice and filled the cabin with the scent of burning. Passengers prayed aloud.
Captain Bradley Chic shut down the affected engine.The crew reported the emergency and returned to Changi Airport to make a safe landing with emergency vehicles on standby.
Passengers disembarked normally, after which they joined hands in the airport and shared a prayer.
Six fire vehicles put out a fire in the right engine.
What: Ryanair Boeing 737-800 en route from Poznan (Poland) to Madrid,SP (Spain)
Where: Frankfurt
When: Aug 30th 201
Why: While en route, the flight developed cabin pressure problems. The crew diverted to Frankfurt Germany where they made a safe landing.
Passengers were provided an alternative flight.
TUI fly flight X3-2158 made an emergency landing in Munich, Germany, on March 3rd.
The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Palma, Spain, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a cabin pressure problem.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
