    Indonesian Air Force Bravo Made Emergency Landing in Central Java

    An AS-202 Bravo aircraft from Air Squadron 101 of the Indonesian Air Force made an emergency landing in a paddy in Jogodayoh village, Sukoharjo, Central Java, Indonesia, on August 12.

    The training plane, which took off from Adi Soemarmo at 11 a.m., experienced a technical problem during the flight and landed in emergency around 57 minutes after takeoff.

    The plane landed safely and the pilot instructor, Maj. Surono, and his student, First Sgt. Tama, who were the only 2 people aboard, survived unhurt.

    The aircraft was manufactured in 1980s and was based at Adi Soemarmo Airport in Surakarta.

    Air Force spokesperson Com. Hadi Tjahjanto said, “I cannot yet report anything about the condition of the AS-202 Bravo as we must wait for examination results from the Air Force Aviation Safety Agency.”

    Air Canada Engine Shut Down, Diverts to Montreal

    What: Air Canada Boeing 767-300 en route from Halifax to London Heathrow
    Where: Montreal
    When: Jun 2nd 2011
    Who: 138 aboard
    Why: After takeoff, the left engine emitted a loud explosive noise. Pilots shut down the engine but weather prevented a return to Halifax. The flight diverted to Montreal where it made a safe landing between two and three hours later. A replacement jet was sent to Montreal for passengers, resulting in a 13 hour delay on that flight.

    GoAir Flight Returns to Mumbai due to Engine Vibrations

    GoAir flight G8-319 had to return and make an emergency landing in Mumbai, India, on January 10th.

    The plane took off for Delhi, India, but had to turn back after the crew noticed engine vibrations.

    The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and sixty-eight people aboard remained unharmed.

    Kulula Flight Encounters Severe Turbulence near Cape Town; One Injured

    Kulula flight MN-111 encountered severe turbulence near Cape Town, South Africa, on June 7th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Johannesburg, South Africa, was on approach to Cape Town International Airport when it hit turbulence that injured a passenger.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    Jet2.com Plane Diverts and Continues for Safe Landing in England

    Jet2Jet2.com flight LS-286 had to divert and continue for a safe landing at Manchester Airport, Manchester, England, on April 7th.

    The Boeing 737-300, en-route from Geneva, Switzerland, was on approach to Leeds Bradford Airport when the crew detected problems with the flaps, deciding to divert and land at Manchester’s longer runway.

    The plane landed safely.

    All people onboard remained unharmed.

    Jet2 flight LS-612 made an emergency landing in Barcelona, Spain, on October 30th.

    The Boeing 737-300 plane heading from Girona, Spain, to East Midlands Airport, England, was diverted due to a fuel leak.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
