What: Qantas Airbus A380-800 en route from Singapore to London

Why: The first approach was aborted due to a nose gear issue. After landing, nose gear steering failed, and the plane was towed. However, repairs were made so that on the return flight, the delay was only about two hours.
Braathens Regional Airways flight TF-158 had to return and make an emergency landing in Stockholm, Sweden, on December 7th.
The plane took off for Malmoe, Sweden, but had to turn back due to an engine issue.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
Air India flight AI-496 made an emergency landing in Udaipur, India, on October 2nd.
The Airbus A319-100 plane heading from Raikot to Delhi, India, was diverted due to a cargo smoke indication.
The plane landed safely. All one hundred and twenty-three people aboard remained unharmed.

What: Air Canada Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-300 en route from Kelowna,BC to Vancouver,BC

Why: After making a safe landing at Vancouver, the Vancouver ground crew discovered evidence of a small fire and a fluid leak. Maintenance discovered a fuel line perforation, where the wiring harness abraded it, causing arcing and a small fire and a loose, leaking oil line fitting.
A US military plane had to make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on the morning of February 28.
Authorities said the crew of Hercules C-130 turbo-prop aircraft sought permission for an emergency landing due to fault in one of the engines.
The plane landed uneventfully and no one aboard was harmed.

What: Norwegian Air Shuttle Boeing 737-300 en route from Stockholm Arlanda to Nice France
Where: Hamburg

Why: When the crew reported smoke in the cockpit, the plane diverted to Hamburg. After a safe landing, a replacement jet was provided, and after a delay of a few hours, the flight resumed without further event.
