    US- Bangla Plane Crashes in Nepal; 39 Killed, others Injured

    US-Bangla Airlines flight BS-211 hit the ground and burst into flames at the runway of Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, on March 12th.

    The de Havilland Dash 8-400 was flying from Dhaka, Bangladesh, to Kathmandu, Nepal, at the time of the crash.

    The plane was carrying 67 passengers and 4 crew members at the time.

    At least 39 people lost their lives in the crash, while 31 people were rescued alive with injuries.

    The cause of the crash is under investigation.

    Westchester County Police Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in New Jersey

    A Westchester County police helicopter made an emergency landing in Alpine, New Jersey, on September 28th.

    The helicopter was participating in a search operation with the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police when the pilot smelled smoke and decided to make an emergency landing.

    The aircraft landed in a parking lot at State Line Lookout.

    No injuries were reported.

    128th Air Refueling Wing Plane Makes Emergency Landing

    128th Air Refueling Wing.A 128th Air Refueling Wing plane had to make an emergency landing at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, due to mechanical issues, on August 7.

    The incident happened when the KC-135R Stratotanker was on a routine training missions with 4 people aboard. The hydraulics on the boom, used for fueling, stopped working at about 2 p.m. when it was flying over Illinois.

    The plane safely landed after about 40 minutes. 128th Air Refueling Wing Col. James Locke said, “The air crew is trained and disciplined, and they know how to handle in-flight emergencies. We have simulators, and we have routine functions that make this very doable, very manageable.”

    Sky-Diving Plane Makes Emergency Landing on New Jersey Highway

    cessnaskylanet182tA sky-diving plane had to make an emergency landing at route 72 in Stafford Township, New Jersey, on the morning of July 12.

    The single-engine plane had to be landed in emergency after it apparently lost engine power. The plane was carrying 5 people, including 3 students and an instructor from the Skydive East Coast sky-diving school, at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Authorities said the instructor received a minor cut on his arm while everyone else remained unhurt.

    The FAA is investigating.

    Ontario Plane Crash Kills 3 Americans

    CessnaA Cessna 182 crashed at Chappie Lake, south of Kenora, in northwestern Ontario, Canada, just after 4 p.m. on August 8.

    According to Ontario provincial police, 3 Americans have died in the crash; 2 of them were pronounced dead at the spot while the third succumbed to her injuries later on.

    The victims were identified as Nikolas Rajala, 41, Teresa Rajala, 40, and Lynn Bohanon, 36. According to police the victims belonged to Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and were on a fishing trip when the crash happened. They were staying at a fishing lodge nearby.

    Police located the downed plane after receiving an emergency locator signal from Chappie Lake.

    Ontario Provincial Police and the Canadian Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
