What: Yemenia Air Airbus 310 flight 626 en route from Yemen’s capital Sanaa to Moroni
Where: Indian Ocean near the Comoros archipelago
When: Monday June 29, 2009
Who: 142 passengers, 11 crew.
Why: The exact location of the crash was unknown, but investigators began looking five to 10 kilometres from the coast along the “landing approach.” Rough weather is hampering the search.
An unidentified boat found the plane which did go down in the Indian Ocean, so close to the coast that villagers saw the crash occur. Wreckage was found about six minutes from the airport where it was due to land. (The nationality of the boat is not known; apparently Comoros does not have the resources.)
And a ship has already found the wreckage.

What: Sita Air Dornier 228-202 en route from Kathmandu-Tribhuvan Airport to Lukla
Where: 500 Meters from airport
When: Sept 28, 2012
Who: 19 fatalities
Update: Because seven British subjects were killed aboard the Sita Air crash on September 28, the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch will be joining the accident investigation.

What: PNG Airlines de Havilland Canada DHC-8-102
Where: 20 km (12.5 mls) S of Madang Airport (MAG) (Papua New Guinea)
When: Oct 13, 2011
Who: 4 crew, 28 passengers, 4 survivors
Why: The Png flight crashed 20 miles south of Madang, and was lost and later discovered on fire. 28 died in the crash, but pilots, one passenger and an attendant survived. The Australian Captain broke both legs in the crash. The surviving passenger is a Chinese man who incurred serious burns.
“Based on the information that the pilot gave to the towers which was there’s smoke coming out of the engines and we’re running out of power, doing a forced landing, that’s what they said, which resulted in it crash landing.” The Ministry of Civil Aviation in Papua NG announced unofficially that there was a mechanical problem with the plane. The black box was recovered and sent to Australia for analysis.
A Canadian team from de Havilland is doing an independent investigation.
What: White and blue Cessna 185
Where: Denali National Park
When: Wednesday October 14, 2009
Who: pilot Daniel McGregor and 67-year-old wolf biologist Gordon Haber.
Why: Biologist Gordon Haber was looking for wolf packs on the north side of Denali Park when the plane failed to return. Thursday the wreckage was discovered. The pilot hiked twenty miles, and encountered two campers who helped get him home. From his home, he called State Troopers and his family. Haber’s remains were in the plane.
A two-seater Xenon Gyroplane crashed into a river near Loma in western Colorado, shortly after 6 p.m. on October 4.
The yellow colored helicopter went down after it took off from the Grand Junction Airport with 2 people aboard.
Mesa County chief deputy coroner Victor Yahn confirmed that both people aboard the helicopter died in the crash. They were identified as Mark Shook, 61, of Peyton, Colorado, and Rebecca Jane Molle, 50, of Grand Junction, Colorado.
The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the cause of crash.
Remains of some poor soul were discovered on the banks of the Dordogne River ten kilometers from where the helicopter crash killed Hong Kong tycoon Kok Lam. The body has not been identified yet. Due to its condition after being in the water, the id will have to be found through DNA testing. The remains of 12-year-old son Kok Shun-yu, son of Kok Lam, were found indie the Robinson R44 a day after the helicopter crashed.
The body found in the river may be a person missing since April, which might explain the extent of the damage of the remains.
Kok Lam was owner of the Hong Kong based Brilliant group, which runs upmarket hotels and other properties, including the newly purchased Château de la Riviere.
