    3 Killed, 1 Missing after Oil Rig Helicopter Crashed in Ghana

    helicopter crashA service helicopter carrying 8 workers to the Jack Ryag oil rig near the giant Jubilee field, off the coast of Ghana, crashed into deep waters on May 8.

    The accident occurred after the helicopter, belonging to Ghanian subsidiary of the Russian oil company Lukoil, took off from Takoradi’s western port, with 5 Ghanians, 1 French, 1 British and 1 Nigerian on board.

    Three people were killed in the incident. According to Kwame Mamphey, the director general of Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), 4 people were rescued after the helicopter crash while another one is missing and presumed dead.

    The survivors were taken to hospitals where one of them is believed to be in serious condition.

    The cause of accident is being investigated.

    Delta Airlines Plane makes Safe Landing in South Dakota

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-2845 made a safe landing at Rapid City’s Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, on July 7th.

    The Airbus A320-200, flying from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Rapid City Regional Airport, South Dakota, accidentally landed on the airport’s air force base.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing on Interstate 94

    A crop dusting plane made an emergency landing on the westbound lane of I-94 near Sterling, North Dakota, on February 12th.

    The 1977 Thrush Ayres S2R was heading from Hillsboro to Mandan when it developed an engine problem, prompting the pilot to make an emergency landing.

    The plane landed safely. The pilot Adam Taylor, of Bismarck, North Dakota, remained unhurt.

    Pilot Killed in Kit Plane Crash in Georgia

    On December 18, 2012 at 2:15 p.m. a Hummel H5 en route from Tom B. David Field Airport crashed and caught fire in a forested area in Calhoun, Georgia.

    The pilot, Roy Gardner Russom (76) died on the scene. It was the first flight of the experimental plane which Russom had been tinkering with just before the flight.

    Russom served in the United States Air Force and retired as an Aircraft Maintenance Superintendent.

    Small Plane Crashes Near Cape Blanco; Pilot Killed

    A small plane crashed on a beach near Cape Blanco, Oregon, on January 13th.

    It is believed that the pilot suffered a medical issue before the single-engine plane went down.
