    CareFlite Crashes in Eastland En Route to Pick Up Patient


    What: CareFlite Agusta 109 medical helicopter
    Where: County Road 309 Eastland, Texas
    When: Oct 1, 2012
    Who: three injured
    Why: A CareFlite medical helicopter crashed in Texas, injuring pilot Scott Wallace, 58, of Fort Worth; medic Teresa Campbell, 53, of Granbury, and Rhett Drahen, 34, of Frisco. The injuries were minor to moderate. All three were conscious and talking after the crash. The crash site was six miles from Eastland Municipal Airport where the injured patient was waiting.

    The pilot was en route to pick up a patient but needed to divert to another airport due to weather. The helicopter crashed three miles south of Eastland.

    Divers Search for Angel Flight Pilot

    on May 24, 2013, an Angel flight #N31743 northeast Piper PA 34 en route from Massachusetts to Rome NY crashed in a reservoir in a wooded area in Ephratah New York. Visibility at the time in Rome was 10 miles.

    Divers were scheduled to search daylight on the 25th. The bodies of a man and a woman, believed to be the two passengers were recovered. The search for the pilot’s body is ongoing.

    The plane circled the area once, then witnesses say they heard a struggling engine and a backfire, then saw the plane “flipping through the air” with pieces of the plane falling from the sky.

    Angel Flight teams provide free air transportation and medical care.

    The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.

    Missing Plane Found Crashed, Pilot Death on Impact

    On Oct 23, 2013, a Kestrel Aviation Cessna 182Q Skylane en route from Moruya Airport to Mangalore Airport in Australia was en route when it developed problems. The pilot at left 8.15am on Wednesday and never arrived in Mangalore Australia. Five aircraft searched unsuccessfully for the missing plane on Wednesday. An unconfirmed sighting narrowed the search parameters to Mt. Hotham. Eight helicopters and two planes searched Thursday morning until the wreckage was found at 8.40am on Thursday by a search helicopter that was also employing “radar and mobile data.”

    The ATSB is investigating the fatal plane crash. The only one aboard was the pilot, whose injuries were fatal.

    The impact occurred near Mt Hotham, Victoria.

    An Australian attorney told the press that the pilot, 60-year-old Peter Brereton from Euroa was killed in a light plane crash on his way back from dropping off spare parts for a helicopter used in the fire fighting efforts on the far south coast of NSW.

    A specialized team of 4 ATSB investigators with expertise in mechanical and aeronautical engineering, materials failure and aircraft operations began investigation #AO-2013-186, a four day examination of the wreckage on the 25th, (friday).

    Plane Crash in Mojave Desert Kills 2

    A Beechcraft Bonanza crashed in the Clark Mountain Range of the Mojave Desert, near the border of Nevada and San Bernardino County, on January 20.

    The plane, registered to Van Pray of California City, was en-route from California City to Henderdon, Nevada, when it was reported missing. The search operation began shortly afterwards however, it was not until next day that the wreckage was located.

    Both people aboard the plane were killed in the accident. Their identities have not yet been released.

    The accident is under investigation.

    Where: Iju neighborhood, Lagos
    When: June 3, 2012
    Who: 153 passengers
    Why: NAICOM told seminar attendees that the $70,000 per Dana Plane Crash victim payment is contingent on the death certificate and letter of administration, and 70 per cent of Dana Air Crash Claim settlements have been delayed due to families being unable to submit death certificates and letter of administration.

    58 families have been paid $30,000 (the initial 30%) that is due 30 days after the crash. On verification of the correct claimants, the balance of the claims should be covered by Prestige Assurance, six Nigerian insurance companies and Lloyds and Lloyds Associates.

    2 Killed after Helicopter Crashed in Salt Lake City

    A small helicopter crashed into a vacant industrial building north of Salt Lake City, Utah, at around 2 p.m. on December 2.

    The helicopter struck the roof of a two-story building and bursted into flames, with 2 occupants trapped inside.

    Police Chief Craig Black confirmed that both people aboard the helicopter were pronounced dead at the spot. No one on the ground was injured.

    The FAA is looking into the cause of crash.
