The plane took off for Karachi, Pakistan, but had to turn back due to an engine fire indication.
The plane landed back safely. All fifty-eight people aboard remained unharmed.
A Flybe flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Southampton airport, United Kingdom, on January 3.
The Embraer E175 plane took off for Alicante, Spain, but had to return shortly afterwards after a bird hit it, causing damage to the propeller.
The plane landed uneventfully. All 83 passengers remained unharmed.
The airline arranged an alternate plane for the passengers.

What: Continental Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from Newark to Boston
Where: Newark Liberty Airport
When: Jan 26, 2011
Why: On take-off, the plane filled with smoke. The pilot announced that the smoke was due to de-icing procedures, and made an emergency landing in Newark. Weather conditions at the time included snow, and freezing temperatures.
The plane made a safe landing with emergency services on standby.
What: single-engine, home built plane registered to Robert C. Berrie of Higganum

When: Saturday Morning
Who: Two individuals on board were injured.
Why: The plane had trouble gaining altitude shortly after takeoff. It then crashed into some trees off the runway around 8:30 a.m

Why: On takeoff, the engine “exploded.”
The left hand engine backfired or otherwise made some explosive sound, and the crew immediately aborted takeoff. Mechanics confirmed a compressor stall. Passengers boarded a replacement jet for their flight.

Atlasjet flight KK-9764 had to make an emergency landing in Istanbul, Turkey, on June 18th.
