    What: Continental/Expressjet Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of Continental Airlines en route from Cleveland to Philadelphia
    Where: Philadelphia
    When: Dec 6th 2009
    Who: 51 passengers and 3 crew
    Why: On approach to Cleveland, the right engine failed. The landing was diverted from runway 27R to 27L. The flight made a safe landing.

    Engine failure was due to a bird strike.

    Southwest Airlines Flight Returns to Chicago after Bird Strike

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-105 had to return for an emergency landing in Chicago, Illinois, on December 15th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Las Vegas, Nevada, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. There were 164 passengers and 6 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Air India Plane Suffered Bird Strike Near Nagpur Airport

    Air India flight AI-469 suffered a bird strike near Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur, India, on February 22nd.

    The incident happened when the Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Raipur, India, was on final approach to Nagpur Airport.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All one hundred and fifty people aboard remained unharmed.

    Delta Airlines Flight Returns to JFK Airport After Bird Strike

    Delta Airlines flight DL-2836 had to return and make an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on March 31st.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane took off for Denver, Colorado, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Air Asia Plane En-route Malaysia Encounters Turbulence; 5 Injured

    Air Asia flight D7-377 made a safe emergency landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Selangor, Malaysia, on May 5th.

    The Airbus A330-300 flying from Taipei, Taiwan, was mid-air when it encountered turbulence.

    Five among the 291 passengers and 11 crew members sustained injuries.

    The injured were treated at the airport.

    Air India Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Srinagar

    Air India flight AI-822 had to return and make an emergency landing in Srinagar, India, on August 26th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Jammu, India, but had to turn back after the crew reported that they had not received a locked indication for the gear.

    The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and forty-five people aboard remained unharmed.
