    Cessna 172 Crashed in Bethlehem, 2 Killed

    A Cessna 172 aiCessnarcraft crashed in Selkirk, Bethlehem in New York, shortly after 4:50 p.m. on September 8.

    The incident happened after the plane took off from the South Albany Airport with a flight instructor and his female student aboard.

    The authorities confirmed that both of them died in the accident. According to Detective Sergeant Adam Hornick with the Bethlehem Police, “The plane struck the rail car that was stopped on the tracks and then came to a rest immediately next to it.”

    The instructor identified as Al was working as flight instructor at the South Albany Airport for the last 13 years. The identity of the female student has not yet been released.

    The FAA and the NTSB will investigate.

    Piper Crashes in NJ

     


    What: Piper PA-28-140 registered to Peter Schneider
    Where: Hunterdon County NJ a quarter-mile east of Alexandria Field airport in a wooded area behind a house on Mechlin Corner Road Alexandria Township.
    When: Tuesday night some time after 6 pm. Troopers discovered the wreckage around 8 p.m.
    Who: Pilot Peter Schneider was airlifted to St. Luke’s Hospital in serious condition. Pilot/flight instructor Ronald Orton died in the crash.
    Why: The plane’s owner was in the process of logging hours to maintain his license when the crash occurred.

    Turkish Helicopter Crashes Killing a Dozen Military, Plus Civilians on the ground

    What: Turkish Army Sikorsky S-70A-28 (CH-60)
    Where: Bagrami district, Kabul
    When: Mar 16, 2012, 10:25 a.m.
    Who: 10 fatalities aboard, 2 on the ground
    Why: The Turkish (Turk Kara Ordusu Havaciligi) helicopter crashed into a house in Bagrami District. A dozen Turkish troopers aboard the helicopter were killed. The number reported as being inside the house varies from 2 (children) to a total of eight residents. The Herald Sun reported five bodies. One report says a female casualty may have been aboard the helicopter.

    The crash is attributed to a malfunction, and not to any military action.

    Grisly descriptions of the scene of the crash indicate the bodies of the military victims were decimated into parts. The bodies of two girls from but not in the multi-story brick house have been recovered. The house is described as “scorched” “a smoking hole” and with “several large holes.” A woman and a Turkish boy were injured.

    Argentina: Helicopter Crash

    Who: 2 on board.
    Why: Flying from San Fernando International Airport, Argentina, during a test flight, an Argentinean Cost Guard helicopter fell out of the sky 50 meters from the main runway. The two individuals in the helicopter did not survive.

    Missing Helicopter Found, Confirmed Death of Margarita Afanaskin


    On Sept 14, 2013, an Agusta Westland AW119 Koala en route from Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to Myakinino in Krasnogorsk, Moscow went missing near Tver Oblast. The last conversation between the pilot and ATC took place at 13:14 when the plane was flying over Staritskogo in heavy rain with low visibility. There are conflicting reports that the helicopter landed at a lumberjack festival with a number of people aboard, and that the commander of the aircraft was 30-year-old helicopter champion of Europe and Russia, Margarita Afanaskin was flying the helicopter to a Yakhroma airfield when the helicopter went missing. This has not been confirmed.

    The search team involved more than 100 people from diverse agencies, including the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry: 25 people 5 units from the Federal Air Transport Agency; 6 people, 3 units and participating police officers, foresters, volunteers. The rescue hotline released at the time was (4822) 39-99-99.?. Four Robinson helicopters and a Mi-8 helicopter searched Saturday.

    The search continued through the end of the fourteenth, and resumed the morning of the fifteenth.

    At 18:11 on September 16, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that helicopters in the area of ??the village Selco Staritskogo district of Tver region, from the air sighted the possible wreckage of the vehicle. Ground forces confirmed the bodies of a man and a woman whose names were not initially released; but since then the pilot was confirmed, and the passenger of the helicopter was the head of a department of the Federal Forestry Agency, Sergei Medvedev.
