Why: The exact time of the crash is not known, but the pilot and passenger were scheduled to meet someone at the airport. The wreckage was found at 8:45 a.m. Friday. The helicopter is known to have taken off at 4 a.m. Wednesday, and flew southeast before striking the ground in a wooded area about a mile from the road.Mahaney received his pilot’s license on July 31. He had a two year old public intoxication charge, pending DUI charges in Cherokee, and is the grandson of former state Sen. Herb Rozell of Tahlequah.
21 Year Old Cropduster Crashes and Burns in Tasmania

Why: The engine stalled, lost altitude and hit the ground nose first, exploding and igniting fuel from the ruptured tank.

A single engine Piper PA-28 plane crashed into a house near Helena Regional Airport in Montana, just before 12:30 p.m. on January 20.According to Helena Assistant Fire Chief Ken Wood, the aircraft clipped a tree before it crashed into a section of house and a shed.
Two men, both in their 70s, were injured in the accident and were taken to St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena. Their identities have not yet been confirmed.The homeowner James Samargo and his girlfriend Jennifer Loayza were inside the house at the time but remained unharmed.
The plane, registered to Robert Henry Koch and Kristina Koch of Helena, sustained heavy damage. Authorities said a power line was also affected in the wreck.
The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

Who: Helicopter: 5 Italian tourists and a pilot;

Why: The airplane flew into the helicopter. The impact (or rotors) severed off the plane’s wing. Both aircrafts are in the river. The helicopter is reported to have “dropped like a rock” when the aircrafts “clipped.”All bodies have been recovered.
Though not necessarily considered directly responsible, two FAA employees (the plane’s air traffic controller and the ATC supervisor) have been put on administrative leave in connection with this crash. The ATC was engaged in inappropriate conversation, and the supervisor was not in the room as required.

Nagaland Governor’s Helicopter Lands in Emergency Due to Bad Weather
A Pawan Hans helicopter carrying Nagaland’s Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya made an emergency landing at a helipad in the premises of Bairagi Para Junior Basic School in Kalyanpur in western Tripura, India, in the afternoon of August 19.
According to the authorities, the helicopter with Governor Acharya and his wife Kavita aboard took off from Dimapur, made a stop at Imphal airport for refueling and was scheduled to land at Agartala airport. However, due to extremely bad weather, the pilot could not land at Agartala and instead landed about 40 km north in Kalyanpur.
Acharya and his wife had a good time with the students and also tasted the mid-day meal served by the school, according to Banamali Sinha, principal secretary in-charge of the Raj Bhavan secretariat. The police then escorted them to Dak Bunglow.
The helicopter was able to fly back to Agartala airport around 4:30 p.m., after getting clearance from the Air Traffic Controller.

Rusty the Border Collie Rescued After his Master’s Fatal Crash

What: Cessna 180 en route from Vulcan, Alta., to Springfield, B.C.,
Where: Williams Lake, Rocky Mountains

Who: Fifty-nine year old pilot Ed Fedaj
Why: Friday, the dog Rusty was found by Parks staff Rusty survived a plane crash that killed his owner Ed Fedaj, but before the dog could be recovered, he disappeared into the park. After being looked over by a vet, Rusty, a 6 yr-old Border Collie will be returned to his family, to be adopted by Ted Fedaj.The Cessna 180 was found where it slammed into a gorge at 1,500 metres on the side of Mount King. Ed’s body was retrieved in spite of an avalanche risk.
Ed had been visiting relatives in southern Alberta and was returning home to Williams Lake when he crashed.
The B.C. Coroners Service and the Federal Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
