    American Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Arizona after Tyre Burst

    American EagleAmerican Airlines flight 1479 made a safe landing at Phoenix Harbor International Airport, Phoenix, Arizona, on September 16th.

    The Airbus flying from Portland, Oregon, had one of its tyres off its rim due to which the pilot had to declare emergency.

    The plane landed without further incident.

    All people onboard remained unharmed.

    Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Barcelona

    Lufthansa flight LH-1835 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Barcelona, Spain, on September 9th.

    The Airbus A321-100 plane heading from Malaga, Spain, to Munich, Germany, was diverted due to an indication in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and eighty-eight passengers and six crew members remained unharmed.

    Air Canada Flight Returns to France due to Hydraulic Failure

    Air Canada flight AC-885 had to return and make an emergency landing at Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, on June 22nd.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Montreal, Canada, but had to turn back due to a hydraulic failure.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Skywest Airlines Canadair CRJ-700 en route from Aspen to Denver
    Where: Aspen
    When: Mar 7 2010, 1 pm
    Who: 66 passengers and 4 crew
    Why: While en route, smoke was observed in the cockpit. The flight returned to Aspen within thirty minutes of takeoff, and passengers debarked without problem. The smoke was attributed to a faulty air conditioning system. After an article about this plane’s rapid repair and return to service, reports conflict whether this flight went on after repairs or whether it was ferried elsewhere empty by a skeleton crew for repairs.

    Bird-Hit Avianca Brazil Airlines Flight Safely Lands in Rio de Janeiro

    AviancaAvianca Brazil Airlines flight O6-6235 made a safe landing after a bird strike in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 10th.

    The Airbus A318-100 plane was flying from Brasilia, Brazil, when a vulture hit it, damaging the radome.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    What: Flybe de Havilland Dash 8-400 en route from Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) to Cardiff
    Where: Exeter
    When: Jul 27th 2009
    Who: 51 passengers
    Why: While en route, the plane was struck by lightning. The flight diverted to its base of operations in Exeter where it landed safely one hour and 45 minutes later. Passengers were transferred to an alternative plane which took them to their destination.
