    Uruguay Plane Crash Kills all 10 On-board

    A twin-engine Beechcraft crashed into Laguna del Sauce, Maldonado province of Uruguay, on March 19.

    The accident happened shortly after the Argentina-bound plane took off from Punta Del Este city.

    There were 8 passengers and 2 crew members aboard at the time, all of them are presumed dead in the crash. Spokesperson for Local fire department, Leandro Palomeque, confirmed on March 20 that 7 dead bodies have been recovered from the waters while the search for another 3 is underway.

    Authorities said the occupants of ill-fated plane included 9 Argentines and one Portuguese.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    FAA official Lost during Proficiency Check in Jackson MS

    What: Robinson R44 practicing aerial maneuvers operating out of Hawkins Field Airport
    Where: duplex-style house about half a mile east of Hawkins Field airport in Jackson, MississippI
    When: Tues September 1, 2009 at 1932
    Who: Two FAA officials, pilot Charles Farmer and pilot Larry Wells of Crystal Springs
    Why: While in the course of a standard pilot proficiency check, it appeared the helicopter was experiencing engine trouble and trying to land, when the helicopter fell from the sky, clipped a tree and crashed into the unoccupied half a duplex house in Jackson Mississippi. The two victims both of whom worked for the FAA were taken to the Mississippi Medical Center, where Charles Farmer died. Larry Wells sustained serious injuries.

    The 2007 R-44 Rotorcraft belonged to WEBB GROUP FLP of Jackson Ms.

    What: Merpati Airlines Boeing 737-300 en route from Surabaya to Ujung Pandang/Makassar Indonesia
    Where: Makassar
    When: Dec 21st 2009
    Who: 102 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: On landing with tailwinds of 13 knots and poor visibility, the plane blew out a nose wheel tire and damaged the nose wheel. Passengers debarked on to the runway. It is not indicated if slides were used, or a stair.

    Tropic Air Táxi Emergency Landing in São Paulo


    What: Tropic Air Táxi Aéreo Cessna 525B CitationJet CJ3 en route from Florianópolis to São Paulo
    Where: São Paulo-Congonhas Airport Brazil
    When: Nov 11, 2012
    Who: 2 crew, 1 passenger
    Why: The corporate jet sustained substantial damage in a runway excursion. The captain, co-pilot and passenger were all injured on landing three people were injured, one with head trauma, one with chest injuries one hospitalized with lumbar spine injury. The plane landed, bounced and continued down a slope where it crashed at the perimeter fence near Avenida dos Bandeirantes.

    Metars at the time were SBSP 111900Z 30009KT 9999 SCT045 31/14 Q1012 [19:00 UTC: Winds: 300 degrees at 9 knots; Visibility: 10+ km; scattered clouds at 4500 feet AGL; Temperature 31°C, Dewpoint 14°C; Pressure 1012 mb]

    SBSP 112000Z 16013KT 9999 SCT045 28/18 Q1012 [20:00 UTC: Winds: 160 degrees at 13 knots; Visibility: 10+ km; scattered clouds at 4500 feet AGL; Temperature 28°C, Dewpoint 18°C; Pressure 1012 mb]

    The accident closed Congonhas Airport for an hour afterwards. At the time of the accident, the plane was in good standing with the Annual Maintenance Inspection (AMI) and the Certificate of Airworthiness (CA) was valid until November 2013.

    What: RV-6 experimental kit plane en route from Wilmington to Louisburg, 31 miles northeast of Raleigh.
    Where: Behind Magnolia Mobile Home Park off Highway 903 near Magnolia in Duplin County NC
    When: Oct 05, 2009 12:45 pm
    Who: a Yorkville, Illinois pilot
    Why: According to witnesses, the plane nosedived into the ground. There was a loud noise, like an explosion, but it is not known if it was before or when the plane impacted the ground. The crash is under investigation.
