    National Guard Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in New York

    A New York Army National Guard helicopter made an emergency landing at the Chili Country Club in Scottsville, New York, on May 1st.

    The UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter was on a routine training flight when its windshield cracked, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency.

    The helicopter landed safely on the ninth hole fairway. All 5 crew members aboard remained safe.

    Flybe Plane Diverts to Manchester due to Cargo Door Indication

    FlybeFlybe flight BE-262 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Manchester Airport, England, on November 13.

    The de Havilland Dash 8-400, flying from East Midlands Airport, England, to Edinburgh, Scotland, diverted due to a cargo door indication.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 72 people aboard remained safe.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Chicago

    United Airlines flight UA-5622 made an emergency landing at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, on January 1st.

    The plane flying from Aspen, Colorado, was descending toward Chicago when the crew requested assistance due to a gear problem.

    The plane performed a low approach for gear inspection and subsequently landed safely.

    All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at JFK Airport

    United Airlines flight UA-4697 made an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on August 7th.

    The plane heading from Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, to Providence, Rhode Island, was diverted due to smoke in the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. There were fifty-three people aboard at the time; three of them were examined by emergency teams at the airport.

    Smokey Charter Flight Takes Basketball Team Off Course

    What: World Atlantic Charter flight en route from Westover Airforce Base to Providence
    Where: Albany International Airport
    When: Jan 25, 2011
    Who: UMass men’s baskeball team
    Why: Ten minutes after takeoff, smoke was smelled in the plane’s cabin and cockpit. The flight diverted to Albany and made a safe landing.

    No one was injured, although there was some praying and some bonding going on.

    The team waited around for a replacement plane which took them to Bradford, Pennsylvania where they took a bus to the game.
