What: Air Canada Jazz Canadair CRJ-100 en route from Montreal to Charlottetown Where: Montreal When: Dec 6th 2010 Who: 46 aboard Why: On takeoff, the pilots were reported smoke in the cabin and flight deck and rejected takeoff.
The flight was cancelled. Passengers disembarked after the plane taxied to the gate. The problem was attributed to deicing fluid ingested into the engine.

The plane returned to Vancouver and landed safely an hour after it left.

Click to view full size photo at Airliners.net Contact photographer András Mihalik What: Schulter Planungs- und Ausführungs- GmbH Robinson R44 Raven I en route from Augsburg to Salzburg Airport Where: Teisendorf, southeast Bavaria, Germany When: June 9, 2012 Who: 4 aboard, 4 fatalities Why: 15 km away from his destination the pilot of a Robinson R44 Raven reported that he had to perform a precautionary landing, then disappeared from radar screens when he crashed in a forested hillside 200 meters from a farm near Teisendorf, southeast Bavaria. The pilot apparently flew into an area of sudden fog. At the time of the accident, there was low visibility, and there were low hanging clouds.
The chopper pilot had only recently finished training.
The two men and two women aboard were German.

What: Irish Air Corps Pilatus PC-9(M) out of Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel Where: Crumlin East near Cornamona in Connemara Ireland When: 12-OCT-2009 Who: 2 fatalities: Captain Derek Furniss, 32, from Rathfarnham in Dublin and Cadet David Jevens, 22, from Glynn in Co Wexford. Why: The crash occurred in a remote area during a training flight. Two other planes involved in the same exercise returned safely to Galway airport. The crash is under investigation.

What: Royal Moroccan Air Force Lockheed C-130H Hercules CNA-OQ en route from Dakhla Western Sahara to Goulimime Airport, Morocco (Flight global released the route as Agadir-Eyes-Dakhla) Where: 6.3 miles East of Goulimime (Guelmim)Airport,Morocco When: 26 JUL 2011 at 9 a.m. Who: 80 aboard, (9 crew, 71 passengers) 80 fatalities Why: The Royal Moroccan Air Force C-130 Hercules transport plane was in a mountainous area near Goulimime/Guelmim when it crashed into a mountain and was destroyed. The flight originated at Dakhla Airport, and was scheduled to land in Kenitra with scheduled landing in Goulimime.
Eighty occupants were killed; most were members of the Moroccan Armed Forces. The airplane carried nine crew members, 60 troops (including 9 RMAF flight crew) and 12 civilians. It operated on a flight from Dakhla to Kinitra with an en route stop at Goulimime.
Sixty troops were aboard, and a dozen civilians. According to some reports, there were three survivors; other reports say there were no survivors. Three survived the crash, but not the ride to the hospital. The remains have been taken to the military hospital at Guelmin.
Initially, the flight was reported as carrying 81, but one person did not board in Laayoune.
The crash has been attributed to inclement conditions.
Three days of national mourning were declared by King Mohammed VI.

What: Transaero Airlines Boeing 767-200 en route from St. Petersburg to Larnaca Where: Larnaca When: Jul 31st 2010 Why: On landing, the engine was found to be on fire. The engine was shut down, and on board measures were inadequate to suppress the flame. Emergency services succeeded in putting out the fire. The plane was towed off the runway.

Philippine Airlines flight PR-2687 made an emergency landing in Manila, Philippines, on May 19th.
