Why: On Sept 15, the Bristol-Reus flight diverted to Barcelona after developing an engine problem. Passengers disembarked in Barcelona and were provided alternative transportation.This is one of the events that caught the eye of Spanish and Irish aviation bodies. They are initializing an investigation into Ryanair after a number of diversions occurred recently in Spanish airspace.
The investigation was initiated after a diversion to Madrid during a Paris-tenerife flight, and three landings in Valencia on July 26.
There are fears that Ryanair is courting disaster by flying with minimal fuel requirements.

Jetstar Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Melbourne
Jetstar Airways flight JQ-772 had to return and make an emergency landing in Melbourne, Australia, on October 20th.The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Adelaide, Australia, but had to turn back after two flight attendants reported feeling unwell due to an odor in the cabin.
The plane landed safely. Both flight attendants were taken to a hospital.

Why: After takeoff, the crew detected a hydraulic leak and turned around to make an immediate (less than ten minutes later) landing.Apparently passengers disembarked and helped the crew push the plane off the runway.

Alaskan Airlines Emergency Landing in San Jose
An Alaskan Airlines de Havilland DH8 en route from San Jose to Boise Idaho developed a fire in the right engine and made an emergency landing when it returned to the San Jose airport.Emergency services were on standby. None of the 47 passengers or six crew reported any injuries.
The odor of burned metal was in the cabin, but no fire was found. Passengers were provided alternatives.

Cayman Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Electrical Odor
Cayman Airways flight KX-793 had to make an emergency landing in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, on April 13th.The Boeing 737-300 plane was flying from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, when the crew declared an emergency due to an electrical odor in the cabin.
The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
