    Plane Carrying Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Diverts to Turkmenistan

    Biman Bangladesh AirlinesBiman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-1011, carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, had to divert and make an emergency landing in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, on November 27th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane heading from Dhaka, Bangladesh, to Budapest, Hungary, was diverted after the crew received a low fuel pressure indication for an engine.

    The plane landed safely. There were 99 passengers and 29 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Southwest Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Lightning Strike

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-2515 made an emergency landing at Bradley International Airport, Connecticut, on October 23rd.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane heading from Manchester, New Hampshire, to Orlando, Florida, was diverted after it received a lightning strike, followed by an abnormal gear indication.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Plane Makes Hard Landing in Benton County

    small planeA small plane made an emergency landing in a corn field near the intersection of Mt. Auburn Road and Main, Benton County, Iowa, at 4:10 p.m. on June 3.

    The pilot decided to make this hard landing after some mechanical problem started generating smoke in the plane.

    The Benton County Sheriff’s Office said that the pilot was the only person on-board and he was not injured.

    Benton County, Black Hawk County, and La Porte City Fire and Police responded to the call.

    Kulula Flight Encounters Severe Turbulence near Cape Town; One Injured

    Kulula flight MN-111 encountered severe turbulence near Cape Town, South Africa, on June 7th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Johannesburg, South Africa, was on approach to Cape Town International Airport when it hit turbulence that injured a passenger.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    2 Hospitalized after Delta Airlines Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Boston

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta airlines flight 271 made an emergency landing at Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 22.

    The Boeing 767-300ER, heading from Paris to Newark Airport, New Jersey, had to be diverted due to extreme turbulence.

    Authorities said the plane could not land in Newark due to high winds. It then attempted to land at JFK but that too could not be made possible. The pilot then diverted the plane to Boston where it made a safe emergency landing. There were 180 passengers and 11 crew members aboard at the time.

    The authorities confirmed that 2 people were shifted to hospital due to motion sickness and minor injuries.

    Where: Rochester
    When: Dec 6th 2009
    Who: 147 passengers and 5 crew
    Why: After takeoff, the flight suffered severe vibration during flap retraction. The Airbus returned to Rochester and made a safe landing, and an alternative flight was provided in less than 5 hours.
