    What: Swanson Aviation Group Helicopter hired by Southern California Edison to string electrical line
    Where: Santa Clarita area north of Los Angeles behind Lombardi Ranch on Bouquet Canyon Road.
    Who: 1 fatality. The pilot sustained minor injuries.It is unclear if Curtis Cauthen of Ashfork, CA.–the mechanic on the ground– worked for the helicopter company or the electrical company.) Curtis was caught by the rotor blades and sustained fatal injuries.
    Why: The helicopter was hoving above-ground when a gust of wind wind caused the helicopter to spiral.

    What: Tam Fokker 100 en route from Sao Paulo to Rio
    Where: residential area 1 mile from Sao Paulo
    When: October 31 1996
    Who: 89 passengers,6 crew and 2 on the ground died.
    Why: Summary: On October 31 1996, about 0545 UTC a Fokker 100, registration PT-MRK, operating as TAM Airlines flight. 402, a shuttle between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, crashed shortly after takeoff from the Congonhas Airport, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The aircraft was destroyed; 89 passengers,6 crew and 2 on the ground died. 3 passengers were Americans .Witnesses reported the aircraft failed to gain altitude after take-off, collided with a tall building and crashed into residential area 1 mile from the end of the departure runway. Pilot error, unfamiliarity with the craft was judged to be partially responsible.

    What: AeroHorizontes Escuela de Vuelo Cessna 150G
    Where: Maica Area Chica, behind Jorge Wilstermann Airport, Cochabamba Bolivia
    When: August 27 2010
    Who: Two fatalities: pilot/instructor José Gonzalo Grosveger Zegarra and passenger/student José Ignacio Guzmán
    Why: During this instruction flight, the student was practicing “touch and go” maneuvers when the plane crashed. The school’s operations could be suspended pending investigation.

    Vintage Airplane Crashed in Minnesota

    A vintage plane veered off the runway into a deep drainage ditch during landing at the Rush City Airport in east-central Minnesota.

    The incident happened during the Rush City Fly-in on the morning of June 8.

    The pilot from Amery, Wisconsin, was uninjured.

    The 1936 Tailor J2 aircraft sustained damage at the front end, including a broken propeller and broken landing gear.

    The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of crash.

    US- Bangla Plane Crashes in Nepal; 39 Killed, others Injured

    US-Bangla Airlines flight BS-211 hit the ground and burst into flames at the runway of Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, on March 12th.

    The de Havilland Dash 8-400 was flying from Dhaka, Bangladesh, to Kathmandu, Nepal, at the time of the crash.

    The plane was carrying 67 passengers and 4 crew members at the time.

    At least 39 people lost their lives in the crash, while 31 people were rescued alive with injuries.

    The cause of the crash is under investigation.

    Pocono Helicopter Crash Investigation Underway


    What: ACS Helicopter LLC Bell 407 helicopter
    Where: Mount Pocono
    When: Oct 11, 2012
    Who: Two fatalities, one injury
    Why: The Tuesday wreck piloted by a full time American Airlines pilot (part time with ACS Helicopter LLC) was discovered at 2:30 a.m. wednesday. The helicopter encountered bad weather as it passed through northern Monroe County. Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport is not equipped for receiving distress calls.

    The helicopter was found on its right side, leaking fluids, with broken rotor and tail.

    Fatalities of the crash were Pilot William Ellsworth, 52, of Califon, N.J., and passenger Tighe Sullivan, 51, of Darien, Conn.
