    AA Flight Diverts to Lubbock due to Mechanical Issue

    american airlinesAmerican Airlines flight 295 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Lubbock, Texas, on December 23.

    According to the airline, the plane, heading from Miami, Florida, to Los Angeles, California, was diverted due to a “mechanical issue.”

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 186 passengers and 6 crew members remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement aircraft for the passengers.

    What: Air Canada Airbus A320-200 en route from Toronto, Canada to El Catey Dominican Republic
    Where: Toronto
    When: Jan 10th 2010
    Who: not available
    Why: After takeoff, the Airbus thrust reverser malfunctioned and the crew had to return to the airport. They made a safe landing half an hour later, and passengers disembarked, eventually boarding another plane.

    Tam Airbus Suffers Bird Strike

    What: TAM Linhas Aéreas Airbus A320-214
    Where: Afonso Pena Airport, Brazil
    When: Dec 13, 2012
    Who: 152 aboard, no fatalities
    Why: On takeoff, the plane suffered a bird strike.

    Pilots returned to Afonso Pena Airport in the Curitiba Metropolitan Region and made a safe landing.

    Passengers disembarked safely and were provided an alternative flight.

    Ryanair Turbulence Sends FA to Hospital

    What: Ryanair Boeing 737-800 en route from Malta to Venice
    Where: Elba
    When: Sep 8 2010
    Who: 170 people aboard, five injuries
    Why: While en route, the plane encountered serious turbulence, which knocked all unbuckled individuals and a trolley into the roof of the plane; the turbulence injured two flight attendants and several passengers. The pilot diverted the flight to Bologna, where they landed safely; one flight attendant was hospitalized. The other injuries were treated at the airport.

    Delta Flight Diverts to Phoenix

    On Friday January 4, 2012, Delta flight 65 en route from Atlanta to Las Vegas experienced engine problems and had to divert to sky Harbor.

    The Boeing 757-200 made a safe landing minus one engine with emergency services on standby. An inspection determined there had been a fuel leak. Passengers were provided an alternative flight and were scheduled to land in Las Vegas before 8:30 pm.’

    Envoy Plane Returns for Safe Landing in Michigan due to Bird Strike

    Envoy AirEnvoy flight MQ-3605 had to return and make a safe landing at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, Detroit, Michigan, on March 17.

    The Canadian Regional Jet-700, heading from Detroit to Chicago, had to return shortly afterwards after a bird impacted its windshield.

    The plane received minor damages.

    All passengers onboard remained unhurt.
