    British Airways Plane Returns to England due to Smell in Cabin

    britishairwaysA British Airways flight had to return and make a precautionary landing at Gatwick Airport, Horley, England, on September 1st.

    The plane en-route to Crete, Greece, had to return shortly after the cabin was filled with a strong smell, similar to that of cannabis.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers onboard remained unharmed.

    The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

    What: Pegasus Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration TC-ASP performing flight PC-223 from Ercan Cyprus to Adana Turkey
    Where: Ercan
    When: Dec 9th 2011 11:05
    Who: 75 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: Just ten minutes out of Ercan, over the Five Finger Mountains, the plane was struck by lightning.

    Consequently, several systems malfunctioned. Pilots returned to Ercan State Airport and made a safe landing. Passengers were provided alternative flights.

    Many regions in cyprus have been subjected to torrential rain and thunder.

    Passenger Plane Lands in Emergency at Cork, Ireland

    Air ContractorsA Boeing 737-300, operated by Air Contractors, had to make an emergency landing at Cork Airport, Ireland, due to fuel leak suspicion.

    The plane, carrying 150 passengers and 5 crew members, was on its way from Belfast, Ireland to Reus, Spain, when the pilot noticed the fuel leakage warning. The plane was then diverted to Cork for making an emergency landing.

    Full emergency protocol was deployed at the airport as the plane touched the runway at about 11:45 p.m. on June 24. No one was hurt.

    The initial investigation confirmed that there was no fuel leakage; the suspicion arose due to faulty instrument.

    The passengers were accommodated in hotels for the night. They resumed their journey next day.

    Air India Emergency Landing in Kochi

    What: Air India Airbus A310-300 en route from Kozhikode India to Riyadh Saudi Arabia
    Where: Nedumbasseri International Airport at Kochi
    When: Oct 2nd 2010
    Who: 197 passengers (11 in J, 180 in economy, and six infants) and 12 crew
    Why: The flight originated in Nedumbasseri at 4.30am and went from there to Kozhikode. Forty-five minutes after leaving Kozhikode, the crew reported fumes in the cabin. The two Indian pilots diverted to Kochi, made a safe landing and passengers were evacuated. Emergency vehicles, including fire trucks, were on standby as the flight landed. The plane was isolated for maintenance, which found a problem in engine 2 on the right.

    Passengers reported a high degree of alarm from the rapid descent, the cabin pressure, and the fire alarm. They were provided an alternative flight.

    British Airways Flight Diverts to London Stansted Airport due to Cargo Smoke Indication

    British Airways flight BA-706 made an emergency landing at London Stansted Airport, England, on February 25th.

    The Airbus A320-200N plane heading from Heathrow Airport, England, to Vienna, Austria, was diverted after the crew received a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
