What: Aerospatiale SA-341G Gazelle en route from Odessa to Nikolaev.

Who: 40 year old Pilot and 3 passengers
Why: While flying in thick fog, the helicopter crashed, killing the occupants. The passengers were girls between the ages of 18 and 22. The helicopter performed private flights for a luxury chalet in Dnipropetrovsk.
A Cessna 414 crashed into a farm field near Bloomington airport in Illinois, on April 6.
The plane took off from Indianapolis at around 11 p.m. CT, however at 12:15 a.m., Peoria air traffic control informed the Central Illinois Regional Airport that the aircraft’s flight had not been completed.
Multiple search teams were then launched which spotted the plane’s wreckage near McLean County Road 2100 East and Rt. 9.
All seven people aboard were killed in the crash. The deceased include Illinois State University’s associate head coach Torrey Ward and athletic department’s deputy director for external relations Aaron Leetch.
The NTSB and the FAA are investigating.

Why: passengers were airlifted to the Palomar Medical Center
On 23-MAY-2013 two engineers were being held hostage. A Venezuelan police MBB Bo 105M a survey chopper was on a surveillance mission as part of “a new anti-crime initiative”. The chopper was engaged to surveil a car with two engineers being held hostage when the helicopter crashed on a road in El Junquito in the suburb of Caracas.
Everyone aboard the helicopter died in the crash: pilot, co-pilot, a technician and two soldiers of the Police Tactical Group.
Before the accident, there was low visibility produced by a early morning fog; afterwards, heavy clouds of smoke blanketed the area.
Police successfully rescued the kidnapped engineers. The kidnapper did not survive.

What: C Busre Swearingen SA-227 Metro III, en route from Jorge Chavez International Airport Lima to Andahuaylas
Where: Andahuaylas Peru
When: Nov 13 2010
Who: 17 passengers, 2 crew
Why: The plane overran the runway while landing at Andahuaylas. The plane incurred significant damage while landing with an apparent left hand brake failure that skewed toward the downslope, but no one was reported injured.
The US statement of jurisdiction of the event posted on December 2, 2010, says that the investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Peruvian government.

What: B-17 bomber (Boeing B-17G-105-VE Flying Fortress)

Why: A working B-17 bomber which had been in a $3.5 million dollar restoration (Tim Reilly Vintage Aircraft conservators) for fourteen years, took off from Aurora Municipal Airport on a test flight—and caught fire. John Hess, the pilot, made an emergency landing in a cornfield.
Witnesses described a “cracking noise” before the plane landed in the field, streaming black smoke. Fire fighters were impeded by the muddy cornfield, and the plane burned.
This weekend the plane was grounded with a leak.
No one sustained serious injury although one person did have a minor head injury.
The plane was described as a “national treasure,” and one of a dozen B-17s still operable.
