    Three Killed After Military Transport Plane Crashed in Portugal

    A military transport plane crashed and caught fire at Montijo military base, Portugal, on July 11th.

    The Lockheed C-130 Hercules plane, carrying seven crew members, was attempting to take off when it crashed.

    Three crew members were killed in the crash. Authorities said that at least one other crew member was seriously injured.

    Beechcraft Lost in Kentucky

    What: Island Trading Ltd. Hawker Beechcraft 58 en route from from Frederick, Maryland to Olive Branch MS
    Where: Leslie County
    When: April 27 2010
    Who: pilot and passenger
    Why: While en route, the plane lost contact, and is believed to have wrecked in eastern Kentucky, in a remote, mountainous area of Leslie County. It is believed the wreckage was located at 5:30 pm, with no survivors.

    Helicopter Crashed in Germiston, SA; 2 Killed

    helicopterA small helicopter crashed and caught fire near Rand Airport in Germiston, South Africa, on the afternoon of September 25.

    Two people, including a man and a woman, were killed in the accident.

    The helicopter belonged to MiX Telematics Africa. The company’s managing director Brendan Horan said, “MiX Telematics are aware of the incident that took place this afternoon where we confirm that it was a Matrix vehicle tracking helicopter, operated by Henley Air, which has crashed.”

    The cause of crash is under investigation by the MiX Telematics and the South African Civil Aviation Authority.

    IndiGo Flight Rejects Takeoff From Hyderabad

    IndiGo flight 6E-743 had to reject takeoff from Hyderabad, India, on October 9th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Goa, India, when the crew saw a vehicle on the runway and rejected takeoff at high speed.

    The plane safely retuned to the apron.

    Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Evacuation Ordered after Helicopter Crash

    Evacuation was ordered for those living near the radio tower that was involved in the Air Angels helicopter crash in Aurora Illinois, 42 miles outside of Chicago, specifically those living in the Amli and Oakhurst North apartments and homes on Riverstone Drive and Riverstone Court. The crash site is the Night Heron Marsh – part of the DuPage County Forest Preserve – at the intersection of Eola Road and Waterstone Drive on the Aurora’s far east side. The helicopter clipped a guy wire connected to a 750-foot tall WBIG radio antennae tower on the west side of Eola Road. Structural damage to the tower is being investigated. The top of the tower has been removed. Ironically, a helicopter was involved in the remediation procedures.

    Who: pilot a man in his 40s died on the scene
