Why: A light plane was engaged in fertiliser spreading and agricultural spraying for Wanganui Aero Work company. (Wanganui was acquired by Ravensdown Aerowork in 2004 but the plane had not been provided new colors.)The plane went down near Waitaanga Rd.
The Rescue Co-ordination Centre heard the beacon at 5.38 p.m.
The pilot was tended by paramedics then hospitalized at Waikato Hospital.
The sixty year old pilot sustained serious spinal injuries.

Pilot Survives Small Plane Crash in New Mexico after Engine Glitch
A small plane crashed in a farmland in Bloomfield, New Mexico, on the morning of October 28th.
The Cirrus SR22 encountered engine malfunction mid-air and crashed shortly afterward.
The pilot, who was the only person onboard, rescued himself through a parachute and escaped without injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Florida
A small plane made an emergency landing in Everglades in western Broward County, Florida, on March 16th.
Authorities said the plane was carrying two people when it landed on a levee near Sawgrass Recreational Park, east of U.S. 27 and north of Interstate 75.
Both occupants of the plane remained uninjured.
The cause of emergency landing is being investigated.

United Airlines Flight Hits Turbulence Near Los Angeles; 1 Injured
United Airlines flight UA-1600 was hit by turbulence near Los Angeles, California, on April 25th.The Boeing 757-200 plane flying from Newark, New Jersey, was descending toward Los Angeles when it encountered severe turbulence that injured one passenger.
The plane continued for a safe landing.
