
At 2:30 pm on Feb 3, 2013, a Beechcraft C90B King Air en route from Maringá to Congonhas was over Cândido Mota, São Paulo when it crashed in Água do Macuco, the Water Macuco, traditional producer of soybeans and cassava.. Residents heard a loud bang as the plane flew close to a neighborhood, circling, then fell into a soybean field. Three women and two men died, including the 58 year old pilot. Fuel outside the tank seemed to indicate to investigators that the pilot had dumped fuel. Just before the crash, the pilot had informed the tower of Curitiba (PR) that would make a forced landing at Assisi State Airport.
The fatalities included Elizete Piveta and her daughter, Leticia Piveta Assumption, Leticia’s fiance José Eduardo Ermírio de Moraes, pilot Luis Henrique Marcondes, 58 and co-pilot, his wife Luciana Souza Aguiar da Costa.
Rescue teams from Assisi and Marília assisted at the scene.
