Crump(rgd. owner) Piper Cherokee D # N5275L Where: County Road 12 and County Road 37, Wawayanda, about 60 miles north of New York City When: May 9 2011 Who: 2 fatalities (pilots) Why: The planes were headed back to New Jersey when they crashed. A witness says one clipped the other, one spiraled down, the other angled over the hill. One of the planes caught fire. Edward Crump was not piloting his plane when it crashed.
Licensed pilots Gary Delia in the Comanche (of Sussex, N.J.) and William Clark in the Cherokee (of Matamoras, Pa.) flew from Sussex County Airport.
What: American Airlines Boeing 757 en route from Boston to Dallas to Los Angeles Where: Little Rock National Airport, Arkansas When: November 28, 2010 Who: 165 passengers, 2 pilots, 4 flight crew Why: While en route, the plane made 15 explosive bangs, jerking with the impact of each. The engine stalled, and pilots landed the plane safely in Little Rock. When the jet was grounded for maintenance, Passengers transferred to another plane that continued without a problem.
The issue with the plane is being compared to a car backfire. Unlike a car, a 757 has 2 engines. Normal procedure when an engine is having issues, is to shut down that engine and land with the one remaining engine.

What: Tarom Romanian Air Transport Airbus A310-300 en route from Bucharest Otopeni (Romania) to Tenerife Sur Reina,CI (Spain) Where: Madrid When: Jun 18th 200p Who: 201 passengers and 10 crew members Why: En route the windshield cracked, and the flight was diverted safely to Madrid. No injuries were reported though the cockpit depressurized.
