    Air Algerie Flight Rejects Takeoff due to Bird Strike

    Air Algerie flight AH-4062 had to reject takeoff from Algiers, Algeria, on September 16th.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, when the crew rejected takeoff due to a bird strike.

    The plane slowed down safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Azur Air Plane Returns to Russia after Bird Ingestion

    azur-airAzur Air flight ZF-7777 had to return and make an emergency landing at Domodedovo International Airport, Moscow, Russia, on November 23.

    The Boeing 767-300 en-route to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, had to return after one of its engines ingested a bird.

    The plane had to burn fuel before landing.

    No injuries were reported.

    AeroMexico Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Shannon Airport

    AeromexicoAn AeroMexico flight made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on June 29.

    The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, heading from Mexico City to Paris Charles De Gaulle airport in France, had to be diverted after a fire alarm sounded in cargo hold.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 193 people aboard remained unharmed.

    What: Wal-Mart Lear 45 executive jet en route to Anchorage
    Where: Boeing Field in Seattle
    When: August 26, 2009
    Who: six passengers on board
    Why: When the pilot was unable to retract the landing gear, he returned to Boeing field; On landing, the front landing gear (still locked up) caught fire. The tire fire was put out with foam. There were no injuries reported.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at LAX

    American EagleAmerican Airlines flight 641 had to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, California, on December 20.

    It is believed that the plane, flying from Washington, D.C., declared emergency due to a bird strike. According to American Airlines spokeswoman Leslie Scott, the plane reported a mechanical issue but was able to land safely in Los Angeles.

    All 120 people aboard remained unhurt.

    Mesa Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Nashville

    Mesa Airlines flight YV-6176 made an emergency landing in Nashville, Tennessee, on January 26th.

    The plane was flying from Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, when the crew declared an emergency due to a rapid loss of fuel and a fire warning.

    The plane landed safely. All 65 people aboard remained unharmed.
