    Emergency Landing in Caracas

    Where: Caracas

    Why: En route near Caracas, the plane developed an issue with the right hand engine.
    The crew diverted to Caracas where they made a safe landing.

    Delta Airlines Plane makes Safe Landing in Alaska after Turbulence

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-1780 made a safe emergency landing at Fairbanks International Airport, Alaska, on June 27th.

    The Boeing 737-800, flying from Seattle, Washington, was about to land when it encountered turbulence.

    The plane landed safely.

    One of the flight attendants sustained injuries.

    United Airlines Flight Diverts to Manchester, UK

    United AirlinesUnited Airlines flight UA-76 had to make an emergency landing in Manchester, United Kingdom, on February 27th.

    According to the airline, the Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Belfast, United Kingdom, to New York/Newark was diverted due to a mechanical issue.

    The plane landed safely. All 160 passengers remained unharmed.

    NY: Hudson River Crash Update

    What: Piper PA-32 registered to LCA Partnership in Fort Washington, Pa flying out of Teteboro Airport to Ocean City and a Liberty Helicopter Sightseeing Tour Eurocopter AS 350
    Where: over the Hudson River between New York and Hoboken, New Jersey near West 14th Street
    When: Sat Aug 8 2009
    Who: Helicopter: 5 Italian tourists and a pilot;
    plane: pilot and 2 passengers (including a child)
    Why: The airplane flew into the helicopter. The impact (or rotors) severed off the plane’s wing. Both aircrafts are in the river. The helicopter is reported to have “dropped like a rock” when the aircrafts “clipped.”

    All bodies have been recovered.

    Though not necessarily considered directly responsible, two FAA employees (the plane’s air traffic controller and the ATC supervisor) have been put on administrative leave in connection with this crash. The ATC was engaged in inappropriate conversation, and the supervisor was not in the room as required.

    Bell 206 Helicopter Crashed in Tennessee; 5 Killed

    A Bell 206 sightseeing helicopter crashed close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Sevierville, Tennessee, on the afternoon of April 4th.

    The helicopter caught fire right after hitting the ground. Five people lost their lives in the crash.

    The FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause of crash.

    U.S. Air Force Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Alexandria

    HelicopterA U.S. Air Force chopper made an emergency landing at a school in Alexandria, Virginia, on April 30.

    Local officials said the helicopter experienced mechanical issues and landed just next to William Ramsay Elementary School at around 10:30 a.m.

    No injuries were reported.
