    Aeroflot Flight Returns to Moscow due to Gear Problem

    Aeroflot flight SU-1384 had to return and make an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo International Airport, Russia, on October 12th.

    The plane took off for Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, but had to turn back due to a gear problem.

    The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    American Eagle Flight Returns to Lexington

    American eagleAn American Eagle flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Blue Grass Airport, Lexington, Kentucky, on the night of December 23.

    The flight, heading from Lexington to Chicago, had to turn back after the crew reported an electrical smell on board.

    The plane landed uneventfully shortly after 7 p.m. None of the 7 passengers and 3 crew members aboard was injured.

    The airline said the passengers will be accommodated in other flights.

    Jet2 Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Belfast

    Jet2Jet2.com flight LS-362 had to make an emergency landing at Belfast International Airport in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, on March 24th.

    The plane was flying from Palma de Mallorca Airport, Spain, when the crew received a fire indication and declared emergency.

    The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

    No evidence of fire or smoke was found upon inspection.

    Why: While descending to land, the plane struck turbulence. The crew momentarily lost control of the plane, but landed safely shortly afterwards.

    Transwest Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Icy Windshield

    transwest airA Transwest Air plane had to make an emergency landing in Stony Rapids, Northern Saskatchewan, Canada, at around 8 p.m. on November 20.

    The Piper Navajo aircraft, which departed from Stony Rapids at around 7 p.m., faced heavy ice built up on the windshield during the flight to Fond-du-Lac. Authorities said the plane had to turn back because Fond-du-Lac airport did not have facilities for de-icing.

    The plane landed without incident. Transwest Air chief operating officer Garrett Lawless said that hot air from the engine was used to clear a section of windshield. He confirmed that all 7 people aboard, including 2 pilots and 5 passengers, remained unharmed.

    Japan: Emergency Field Landing when Engine Quits

    Four people aboard a privately owned Fuji Fa-200-160 made a crash landing in a field near Ozaki, Yachiuo city, Japan.

    The pilot made the emergency landing because the engine quit.

    There were no fatalities, and only the co-pilot, who suffered a facial injury sustained any injury.

    The plane had taken off from and was returning to Otone airfield, Ibaraki, JAPAN.

    The Fuji is a single engine piston plane built by Fuji Heavy Industries, Ltd. of Japan.
