    Thai Lion Air Co-Pilot Passes out Mid Air, Dies

    Thai Lion AirThe Thai Lion Air flight SL8537 from Hat Yai to Bangkok, Thailand, had to return for emergency landing on August 20, after the co-pilot collapsed midair.

    The Dutch co-pilot Peter Esberte, 47 lost consciousness just 20 minutes after the Boeing 737-900 aircraft took off. The pilot then decided to return to Hat Yai airport where he made an emergency landing at 1:21 p.m.

    Esberte later died on the way to hospital from the airport. The cause of death is not yet known, however, the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (Aerothai) said Esberte died of a heart attack.

    Worawut Kongkositkul, in-charge of flight operations for the low cost airline, said that Esberte joined the airline last year at its launch and was completely healthy.

    All 152 passengers aboard the plane remained unharmed.

    Thai Airways Plane Rejects Take off in Thailand

    ThaiThai Airways flight TG-206 had to reject taking-off at Phuket International Airport, Thailand, on November 29.

    The Airbus A330-300 en-route to Bangkok, Thailand, was about to take-off when one of its engines emitted a loud bang.

    The plane returned to the apron safely.

    No one was injured.

    Thomson Airways Boeing Diverts to Heathrow

    A Thomson Airways Boeing 787-800 en route from Manchester to Orlando on July 12 was enroute when technical problems–an electronic issue– developed.

    Pilots diverted back to Manchester, circling Wales where they dumped fuel prior to securing a safe landing with emergency services on standby. Passengers were provided an alternative flight. A dedicated team of engineers inspected # G-TUIC.

    The problem was reported to be a flushing issue.

    Why: While en route, the flight developed an engine problem and made an emergency return to Atlanta. The tail scraped on landing (damage unknown). Passengers were provided alternative flights.

    What: Air Canada Airbus A319-100 en route from Calgary to Toronto
    Where: Winnipeg
    When: Thursday Sept 17 12:03 pm
    Who: 121 passengers
    Why: While en route, the pilot experienced problems with the left engine and had an indicator light indicating further problems. After declaring an emergency situation, the pilot idled the left engine, and landed safely in Winnipeg a little over half an hour after declaring an emergency.

    Alitalia Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Cagliari

    Alitalia flight AZ875 made an emergency landing in Cagliari, Italy, on July 19th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Casablanca, Morocco, to Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Italy, was diverted after the crew noticed a fuel leak.

    The plane landed safely. All seventy-two passengers and six crew members remained unharmed.
