Compass Airlines Plane Returns and Makes Emergency Landing in Texas
Compass Airlines flight DL-5717 had to return and make an emergency landing at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Austin, Texas, on March 24.
The Embraer ERJ-175, en-route to Los Angeles, California, had just climbed out of Austin’s runway when the crew detected some problem with the engine, prompting the plane to return.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

What: Experimental Ultralight aircraft en route from Rowan County Airport to High Rock Lake, Where: a field close to Shaw’s Mobile Home Park When: Sept 30, 2012, 6 p.m. Who: pilot Why: The ultralight ppeared to stall out shortly before impact. Cecil Dwayne Brown, of West Second Street, in Faith, died in the crash. His remains were recovered within two hours of the accident.
The plane apparently impacted power lines, causing an immediate outage.
Emirates Airlines flight EK-407 made a safe emergency landing at Melbourne Airport, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on July 14th.
The Airbus A380-800 en-route from Auckland, New Zealand was on approach to Melbourne’s runway when it was descended below the minimum assigned altitude, and climbed back after receiving instruction from the ATC.
The plane landed successfully. All people onboard remained unharmed.
An investigation regarding the occurrence has been initiated.

An Embraer EMB-201A Ipanema was en route from Paracatu MG to Goinia when the pilot had to make a forced landing in a field. The plane was commonly used as a cropduster.
The plane had had a fuel supply problem before but apparently this time the problem was in the fuel pump/power system.
The pilot was uninjured but the plane sustained some damage. There was no fire, but firefighters were on hand, and there was a fuel leak.
Centro de Investigação e Prevenção de Acidentes Aeronáuticos (Cenipa) will be investigating.

At the US Chamber of Commerce’s aviation summit, Jim McNerney, the CEO of Boeing, said the expects the technical solution being tested now will resolve the 787’s battery system’s problem and return to flying soon.
The Dreamliner was grounded January 16.

A parade of emergency services met the Dash 8 as it ground to a stop in a shower of sparks after a dramatic belly landing. On May 18, 2013, a US Airways/Piedmont Airlines Dash 8-100 turboprop en route from Philadelphia to Newark was landing in Newark when the left main landing gear failed to deploy. At the last minute, pilot Edward Powers went gear up, landing in a blaze of fire from belly-landing-friction, till it came to rest in the dark. No one was injured.
There were 3 crew and 34 passengers aboard.
After landing at 1 a.m. after the pilot had circled to burn off fuel, the passengers disembarked, and were bussed to the terminal. The plane was foamed to prevent sparks from igniting.
Hysterical passengers reported the pilot announcing “crash crash crash,” calling home for last goodbyes, the jolt and grind of impacting the runway, and the cabin filling with smoke as it landed.
The plane made a belly landing, which means without wheels. A sixteen person team of emergency services responded to the scene
