    Belize Crash Kills Albany Businessman

    What: Cessna 206 Stationair
    Where: 1/2 mile from Rwy 06 at SPR, Ambergris Caye, Belize
    When: Feb 26 2010
    Who: 5 fatalities (3 adults 2 children) Sir Barry Bowen, Michael Casey, Jill Casey, a three year old child, and a newborn. A Belize resident and prominent citizen, Bowen was piloting the plane.
    Why: On final approach to San Pedro Airport, the plane developed some kind of problem and impacted a building under construction, at which point the plane lost a wing and impacted a marshy area half a mile from the runway.

    Small Plane Crashes at Greene County Airport

    Small planeA small plane veered off the runway and crashed at the Greene County – Lewis A. Jackson Regional Airport in Ohio, shortly after 6 p.m. on October 19.

    The incident happened when the pilot of the 1976 Cessna 172 Skyhawk aircraft was performing touch-and-go during a training exercise.

    The plane belongs to MacAir Aviation. Company’s spokesperson Ross McNutt said, “He [pilot] for some reason veered off of the runway and caught a light (wind) and caught a hill with the prop(eller), which spun the aircraft.”

    He also confirmed that the pilot escaped with only minor bumps at chin and neck.

    The FAA is investigating.

    Cessna Crashes in Wichita Falls

    What: single-engine Cessna
    Where: front lawn of a church WICHITA FALLS, Texas
    When: Sunday morning
    Who: opthalmologist Dr. Jeffrey Harrington of Wichita Falls.
    Why: Harrington was believed to have been practicing landings at Kickapoo Downtown Airport when the Cessna apparently lost power and crashed fatally near Woodhaven Baptist Church.

    Cessna Makes a Nose-Down Landing in Texas

    CessnaA single-engine Cessna plane made an emergency landing at David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport, located in Spring, Texas, on November 10.

    The pilot declared emergency after the aircraft’s nose landing gear failed to deploy.

    After circling over the airport for about 30 minutes, the aircraft successfully made a nose down landing shortly after 5 p.m. The pilot and his only passenger remained uninjured.

    The FAA is investigating.

    2 Killed after Cessna Crashed in Amador County

    CessnaA single-engine plane crashed between Amador Road and Gopher Flat Road, near Sutter Creek city in Amador County, California, shortly after 12:30 p.m. on December 24.

    The Cessna 172 went down when it was heading from Gilroy to Sutter Creek with 2 people aboard.

    Authorities said both occupants were killed in the crash. They were identified as Phillip Faillers, 52, of Sutter Creek and his son Alex, 21.

    The accident is under investigation. It is believed that fog might have contributed to the crash.

    2 Killed in Mid-Air Collision Over Alberta

    Two Cessna planes collided mid-air east of Fort McMurray in north-eastern Alberta, Canada, at around 8 p.m. on June 21.

    One of the planes, a Cessna 185, landed safely at the Fort McMurray airport after the collision. The pilot, who was the only one aboard, remained uninjured.

    The other plane, a Cessna 172, crashed in bushes. Both people aboard were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released.

    The Transportation Safety Board will investigate the incident.
