    Bulgarian Air Charter Plane Returns to Bulgaria after Engine Shut Down

    Bulgarian Air Charter flight IT-1113 had to return and make a safe emergency landing at Varna Airport, Aksakovo, Varna, Bulgaria, on July 11th.

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-82, after taking off for Germany, had just climbed out of Varna when the crew needed to shut down its right side engine, prompting the plane to return.

    The plane landed safely. All people onboard remained unharmed.

    The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

    Condor Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Bird Strike

    Condor flight DE-1707 had to return and make an emergency landing in Burgas, Bulgaria, on June 30th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Leipzig, Germany, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Chartered YanAir Flight Lands in Emergency at Bulgaria

    YANAIRThe chartered flight K2 6242of Ukraine’s YanAir, operated by Polish Eurolot, made a safe emergency landing in the port of Burgas in Bulgaria on August 6.

    The incident happened when the flight was heading from Antalya, Turkey to Poznan, Poland.

    Eurolot spokeswoman Karolina Bursa said the pilot of the Airbus 320 “decided to make a landing because a need emerged during the flight to check one of the systems.” She also said that security protocols in such situations require landing at the nearest airport.

    She further confirmed that the experts were checking a system that controls air conditioning and other things in the aircraft.

    Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Bulgaria

    Lufthansa flight LH-689 made an emergency landing in Sofia, Bulgaria, on December 26th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane heading from Tel Aviv, Israel, to Munich, Germany, was diverted after electrical smoke was noticed in aft galley.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All eighty-one people aboard remained safe.

    Laptop Prompts Turkish Plane to Land in Emergency

    Turkish airlinesA Turkish Airlines passenger jet, en route from Brussels to Istanbul, made an emergency landing at the Sofia Airport, Bulgaria, at about 19:00 EEST on August 9.

    The decision was made after the authorities suspected that a laptop with an unknown owner could contain an explosive device.

    The plane landed safely and all the passengers were off loaded and led to a safe location. The suspected laptop was seized for examination however, no threat was established.

    The flight resumed after a short time.

    EasyJet Plane Diverts to Bulgaria due to Smell of Burning

    easyjetEasyJet flight U2-8835 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Sofia Airport, Bulgaria, on November 10.

    The Airbus A320-200, en-route from London, UK, to Antalya, Turkey, had to divert due to a strong burning smell in cabin.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 30 passenger and 6 crew members aboard remained unhurt.
