EXPLOSION AT MOSCOW’S DOMODEDOVO AIRPORT KILLS AT LEAST 10, HURTS AT LEAST 20 –
A suicide bomber has been reported to have killed 10 at a Moscow airport. Dozens are reported to have been injured. The explosion occurred in the international baggage-claim near a baggage carousel. People are being evacuated from the airport.

A Marine Corps C-130 departed from the Mid-South Base in Millington, Tennessee and crashed in Mississippi in Leflore County in Itta Bena just off Highway 82 in a soybean field. Reports say the plane exploded in mid-air. Bodies were found more than a mile from the crash site. The debris field covered a radius of five miles. Witnesses report seeing the plane spiraling down with one engine on fire. The way the debris was scattered on both sides of the highway leads investigators to believe the explosion happened prior to the crash. The plane was loaded with ammunition. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

What: Los Angeles County Sheriff’s patrol Air-24-American Euro Copter Where: Lakewood California When: Oct 21, 2012 8:50 p.m. Why: The flight crew heard a loud noise from the helicopter and made an emergency street landing at Del Amo Boulevard and Paramount.
After making a safe landing and determining that a bird had struck the fuselage above the pilot canopy, they returned to the helicopter and flew back for repairs.
Lakewood Sheriff Deputies handled traffic until the helicopter left the scene.

Wings Over Holland Diamond DA40D Diamond Star TDI Where: Zeeasterweg, Dronten Netherlands When: October 22, 2012 4:35pm Who: 2 aboard, 2 injured Why: A Diamond DA40D Diamond Star TDI (PH-TDE) and a General Avia F-22BV Pinguino (D-EDMJ) crashed following a mid-air collision. The accident happened during an air-to-air photo flight
Those aboard the Pinguino flight were airlifted by medical evacuation Lifeliner 1 and Lifeliner 4.
The two aboard the Diamond Star did not survive.
Rescue efforts were hampered by the wet ground which trapped afire truck that responded to the scene.

An Alaskan Airlines de Havilland DH8 en route from San Jose to Boise Idaho developed a fire in the right engine and made an emergency landing when it returned to the San Jose airport.
Emergency services were on standby. None of the 47 passengers or six crew reported any injuries.
The odor of burned metal was in the cabin, but no fire was found. Passengers were provided alternatives. Video
What: LTA (Aerotuey) Cessna 208 Caravan en route to Angel Falls Where: Canaima Venezuela When: Friday April 16 Who: ten survivors, one child dead Why: The engine failed just after takeoff; the plane hesitated on the runway, took off but after airborne, fell into a stand of trees near the runway. Survivors were airlifted to a hospital in Ciudad Bolivar, the nearest city (400 miles away).
Six year old Thomas Horne was the only fatality. He died en route to the hospital.

What: Air Force C-17 Globemaster III cargo jet en route from SW Asia to MacDill Air Force Base Where: Peter O. Knight Airport, Davis Island When: July 20, 2012 Who: 23 passengers and 19 crew Why: The Globemaster III cargo jet landed on a runway that is 3,580 feet long and 100 feet wide rather than the 11,421 feet long and 151 feet wide runway at MacDill. The nose stopped six to 10 feet from the end of the runway. It took off again later with no problem.
