    Martinair Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    Martinair flight MP-8341 made an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on July 14th.

    The Boeing 747-400 freighter plane took off for Johannesburg, South Africa, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an engine failure.

    The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight Returns to Cairo due to Engine Problem

    Saudi Arabian Airlines flight 384 made an emergency landing at Cairo International Airport, Egypt, on September 7th.

    The plane took off for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, but had to turn back due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Iberia: Hot Airbus Flight

    What: Iberia Airbus A320-200 en route from Madrid to Dublin
    Where: Madrid
    When: Aug 15 2010
    Why: Before takeoff, the air conditioning was “repaired.” After takeoff, cabin temperatures rose. The air conditioning system continued failing, and the pilot returned to the airport half an hour later.

    A replacement jet was provided.

    UTAir Emergency Landing

    UTAir Boeing 757 flight UT5179 with 237 passengers and eight crew en route from Yekatarinburg to Anatalya had to divert to Moscow when it developed depressurization in the cabin. Oxygen masks deployed.

    The flight made a safe landing with emergency services on standby.

    No injuries were reported. Most injuries after an emergency landing occur when passengers disembark via slides. There’s no confirmation that passengers used slides or if they disembarked normally.

    What: Indigo Airbus A320-200 en route from Vadodara to Delhi (India)
    Where: Harni airport Vadodara
    When: Oct 17 2010
    Who: 60 passengers
    Why: On takeoff, a bird strike occurred. The pilot returned to Vadodara where they made a safe landing. The extent of damage has not been released, but there were no injuries reported.

    Flybe Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Dublin Airport

    Flybe flight BE-4521 made an emergency landing in Dublin, Ireland, on October 16th.

    The plane was flying from Cardiff, United Kingdom, when the crew reported smell of smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All seventy-five passengers aboard remained unharmed.
