NTSB investigating fatal crash of Experimental B525 Helicopter

Two pilots died in the crash of the experimental Bell Helicopter 525 Relentless at 11:45 today. The names of the two pilots killed in the crash have not been released.

The helicopter crashed 45 miles south of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The FAA is en route, and the NTSB is investigating.

    Airblue 202 A Year Later


    India’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a statement which they are calling an interim report. It is not what we would call an interim report, but appears to be a report that there is a report that restates the facts as they were known already, not containing actual investigation output. The media has already highlighted the findings of the interim report several times. The report notes that the investigation covered system issues, fire, bird strikes, etc but does not mention causes or place responsibility, and promises a release when component manufacturers have responded.

    So basically, the families have waited a year for the Air Blue Interim report, on the July 28 flight from Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport to Benazir Bhutto International Airport and still have no satisfactory answers.

    African Air Services Crashes in Congo

    What: African Air Services Commuter en route from Bukavu-Kavumu Airport to Lusenge Airfield
    Where: Congo
    When: Feb 14 2010
    Who: 2 aboard, 2 fatalities
    Why: A small African Air Service owned Let 410 cargo plane, registration 9Q-CIF, was damaged beyond repair in an accident at Mont Biega, D.R. Congo. Both crew members (Ukranian and Congolese) pilot and copilot were killed. The cargo that was aboard is unknown; rescue workers are forming an expedition to examine the scene, and recover the bodies and wreckage.

    Columbus Police Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Parking Lot

    A Columbus police helicopter had to make an emergency landing in a parking lot in Columbus, Ohio, around midnight on April 30.

    Authorities said the helicopter’s pilot decided to land in emergency after a warning light went on.

    The plane safely landed near a shopping plaza in west Columbus. No one was injured.

    The helicopter was able to return to the police heliport early morning.

    Small Plane Crashed in Texas; Fatalities Feared

    A small plane crashed between Granger and Taylor in Texas, on April 9th.

    Authorities said the eight-seater twin-engine turboprop went down near FM 1331. The plane had taken off from Georgetown airport.

    According to Department of Public Safety Trooper D.L. Wilson, “There are going to be fatalities…We just can’t confirm or deny how many are in there until we get it under control down there.”

    UK Light Crash Kills pilot

    What: Light crash
    Where: in a field next to the River Aire between Castleford and Methley.
    When: June 19, 2010 4 p.m.
    Who: 31 year old pilot
    Why: In west yorkshire, the plane crashed near the river Aire, killing the pilot.

    Two Lost in Ultralight in Brazilian Rice Field


    What: Starflight Fox V6 Super #PU-ANG
    Where: Araranguá, southern Santa Catarina Brazil
    When: April 8 2012
    Who: 2 fatalities
    Why: The ultralight was in Araranguá between the towns of Marazion and in Santa Catarina when it crashed in a rice paddy that backs up to highway BR-101. Both the pilot and passenger, Pereira de Souza, 45, and Antonio Carlos Bernardino, 30, died at the scene. Bernardino owned the ultralight and the two regularly flew together. Both victims were residents of Araranguá and in an Araranguá flying club. They were taken to Instituto Médico Legal (Forensic Institute).

    Witnesses say the plane just fell from the sky into the rice field. The incident occurred at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

    The accident is under investigations; preliminary findings are due within thirty days.
