What: American Eagle Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Oklahoma City,OK to Chicago O’Hare,IL

Why: While en route to Chicago, the flight encountered turbulence, injuring the flight attendant.
The pilot diverted to Kansas City and made a safe landing.
Binter Canarias Airlines flight NT-1K had to divert and make an emergency landing in Gran Canaria, Spain, on October 18th.
The plane was heading from Valverde to Tenerife, Spain, when the crew decided to divert due to an issue with landing gear.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

What: Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-312ER en route from Manchester to München-Franz Josef Strauss Airport, Germany

Who: 158 passengers
Why: Although there were problems presented to ATC in advance, on landing in Munich, the Singapore Airlines Boeing suffered a runway excursion, when it veered right on landing. Landing occurred with reduced visibility and low cloud cover. All three gear were off the runway when the plane stopped. Passengers evacuated with no injuries via stairs brought to the jet.
The three year old jet has General Electric GE90 engines and appears to have suffered no obvious damage.
What: ANA All Nippon Airways Boeing 777-300 en route from London to Tokyo
Where: en route (halfway)
When: Jul 20th 2010
Who: 249 passengers and 17 crew
Why: While en route, about halfway to their destination, the pilot detected one engine burning fuel faster. The crew d to continued on to Tokyo, eventually shutting down the left engine prior to making a safe landing.
Maintenance did discover a fuel pipe leak.
ANZ Air New Zealand flight NZ-680 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Christchurch International Airport, Christchurch, New Zealand, on May 5th.
The Airbus A320-200 flying from Dunedin to Wellington, New Zealand, had to divert after impact with a bird.
The plane landed safely.
All 88 passengers aboard remained safe.

What: Air France Airbus A340-300 en route from Boston,MA to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport
Where: Boston’s Logan Airport
When: Jul 22nd 2009 (returned at 2 am)
Who: 125 people
Why: During or immediately after takeoff, the number 4 engine caught afire. The crew shut down the engine, put out the fire, and dumped fuel before safely landing at the airport, where emergency crews remained on standby for “hot brakes.”

What: US Airways Airbus A319-100 en route from Boston Washington DC
Where: DC
When: Apr 26th 2010
Why: On approach to Washington, the plane developed hydraulic problems with the landing gear. The pilot entered a holding pattern while the on board crew repaired the problem, after which the flight made a safe landing.
