Why: While en approach to Santiago, the pilots encountered severe turbulence. The Andes area is well known area for turbulence (Aconcagua mountain (22,831 ft)
The pilots made a safe landing. Six flight attendants were injured.
TUI Airways flight BY-638 made an emergency landing in Vaasa, Finland, on February 27th.
The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Sal, Cape Verde, but had to return shortly afterwards after one of the engines started emitting streaks of flame and loud bangs.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
Transavia flight HV-6331 returned to Amsterdam, Netherlands, on December 22nd.
The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Valencia, Spain, but had to turn back after a cockpit crew member became unwell.
The plane landed back safely.
Southwest Airlines flight WN-3313 made a safe landing after suffering a bird strike near St. Louis Lambert International Airport, Missouri, on November 4th.
The Boeing 737-700 plane flying from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was on final approach when a bird hit it.
The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

What: American Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Dallas to Seattle,WA
Where: Dallas

Why: While en route, a hydraulic system malfunctioned and the flight was forced to return to Dallas.
Cathay Pacific flight CX-883 encountered hydraulic leak problem, after landing at Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong, China, on July 13th.
The Boeing 777-300 from Los Angeles, California, to Hong Kong had just landed when the captain observed that it was emitting smoke underneath the fuselage and reported a possible hydraulic leak.
The plane towed to the apron.
The passengers were disembarked taking preventive measures.
What: Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from Guam to Tokyo
Where: Tokyo
When: Jul 15th 2010
Who: 192 passengers and 10 crew
Why: While en route, the plane encountered turbulence over the Atlantic.
A flight attendant was injured between Guam and Tokyo, about 100 minutes before landing in Tokyo. The plane made a safe landing in Tokyo
