    Bird-Hit Aerolineas Argentinas Plane Makes Safe Landing in Argentina

    Aerolineas Argentinas flight AR-1476 made a safe landing following a bird strike in Tucuman, Argentina, on February 13th.

    The plane flying from Buenos Aires, Argentina, was on approach to Tucuman Airport, Argentina, when a bird hit it.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All 130 passengers and 7 crew members remained unharmed.

    Where: Bucharest
    When: Jul 31st 2010
    Who: 92 passengers
    Why: The Alitalia Airbus rejected takeoff after one engine ingested a hawk. The plane returned to the gate and after passengers disembarked, they were provided accommodations until the replacement flight takes off tomorrow.

    What: Air Canada Embraer ERJ-190 en route from Orlando to Montreal
    Where: Montreal
    When: Jun 21st 2009
    Who: 85 people on board
    Why: After a normal lift-off and flight, on approach to Montreal, birds struck the plane’s right wing lodging the flaps in an extended position. Despite the slat problem, the plane landed safely within 20 minutes of the strike.

    Korean Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

    Korean Air flight KE-783 made an emergency landing in Fukuoka, Japan, on June 9th.

    The Boeing 737-900 plane flying from Busan, South Korea, was descending toward Fukuoka when the crew reported smoke in the cockpit and requested emergency assistance.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    There were one hundred and fifty-three passengers and nine crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    Jet Airways Flight Rejects Takeoff From Riyadh

    Jet Airways flight 9W-523 had to reject takeoff from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on August 3rd.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Mumbai, India, when the crew rejected takeoff.

    The plane veered off the runway and came to stop on soft ground.

    All one hundred and forty-two passengers and seven crew members remained unharmed.

    Birds Hit 3 Planes Near Laguardia Airport

    Air CanadaThree flights made emergency landings at LaGuardia Airport, New York, after they were separately hit by birds within a period of 4 hours on September 3.

    ExpressJet Flight 5400 reported bird strike shortly after 7 a.m., while it was turning to land on Runway 31. In the second incident, ExpressJet Flight 5432 was hit by the birds at about 8:53 a.m. while taxiing to the ramp and after less than 3 hours, the Air Canada 706 reported bird strike at about 11:15 a.m. while it was some 12 miles northeast of the airport.

    All three planes made safe emergency landings and no injuries to personnel or damage to property was reported.

    The FAA is investigating the incidents.
