    Republic Airlines Flight Rejects Takeoff After Bird Strike

    Republic Airlines flight YX-4675 had to reject takeoff from Columbus, Ohio, on August 8th.

    The plane was accelerating to takeoff for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when the crew rejected takeoff due to a bird strike.

    The plane safely returned to the apron. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Sudanese Transport Plane Makes Safe Emergency Landing in Saudi Arabia due to Technical Problem

    A Sudanese transport aircraft had to divert and make a safe emergency landing at Al-Baha Domestic Airport, Al-Baha, Saudi Arabia, on August 25th.

    The Sudan bound Antonov 12 was mid air when it had to be diverted due to a technical problem in one of its engines.

    One of the plane’s tyres burst during the landing.

    All 10 people onboard remained unharmed.

    What: US Airways/Air Wisconsin Canadair CRJ-200 en route from Washington Dulles,DC to Charlotte,NC
    Where: Charlotte
    When: Mar 17th 2012
    Why: On approach to Charlotte, the crew reported a left engine had developed problems.

    The pilots made a safe landing in Charlotte with emergency services standing by.

    Toilet Diversion

    What: Cathay Pacific Airbus A330-300 en route from Riyadh Saudi Arabia to Hong Kong
    Where: Mumbai
    When: Nov 17th 2009
    Who: 278 passengers
    Why: While en route, all ten toilets on the flight became clogged, and the flight had to divert to Mumbai. Apparently, Cathay Pacific has had this problem on other Airbus A340-300s, as passengers dispose of everything from medicine bottles to stuffed animals in the airline toilets. They have requested assistance from Airbus to help come up with a solution.

    VietJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Taipei

    VietJet flight VJ-861 made an emergency landing in Taipei, Taiwan, on December 24th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Seoul, South Korea, to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, was diverted due to a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Air New Zealand Plane Returns to New Zealand due to Problem with Air Conditioning

    ANZ Air New Zealand flight NZ-992 had to return and make an emergency landing at Auckland Airport, Auckland, New Zealand, on May 7th.

    The Airbus A320-200 was mid-air when it had to enter a hold due to problem with its air conditioning.

    The plane landed safely.

    No injuries were reported.
