    Turkish Airlines Airbus Diverts to Dehli after Bomb Threat

    Turkish airlinesTurkish Airlines flight TK 0065 diverted and made an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Dehli, India, on July 7.

    The Airbus 330 was heading towards Istanbul, Turkey, from Bangkok, Thailand, when it had to be diverted due to a bomb threat. According to reports, the crew had found a statement written with lipstick on toilet mirror saying, “Bomb in Cargo Hold.”

    The plane, carrying 148 people, landed uneventfully. Civil Aviation spokesperson R.N. Choubey confirmed no bomb was found in the plane.

    US Airways Punched in the Nose Bird Strike

    What: US Airways Boeing 757-200 en route from Philadelphia,PA to Orlando,FL
    Where: Orlando
    When: May 11th 2012
    Why: The flight was en route when there was a bird strike impacting the nose. The bird made a “significant” dent in the plane. ATC says “Looks like you guys got punched in the nose, US Air”

    Air France Plane Rejects Take-off in Martinique due to Smoke from Landing Gear

    Air France flight AF-4001 rejecting taking-off at Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport, Forte de France, Martinique, France, on April 16th.

    The Airbus A340-300 en-route to Moscow, Russia, was about to take-off due to smoke emerging from its landing gear.

    The plane towed to the apron uneventfully.

    All 266 people aboard remained safe.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Nicaragua

    American Airlines flight AA-94 had to return and make an emergency landing in Managua, Nicaragua, on October 11th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Miami, Florida, when it suffered a bird strike. The crew continued takeoff but subsequently returned to Managua.

    Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Piper Crash in Vero Beach neighborhood

    What: Piper PA-34-200T Seneca II
    Where: Nr. 12th Street and 34th Avenue Sun Villas, Vero Beach Florida
    When: Mar 5 2010
    Who: pilot and student pilot
    Why: While on a Paris Air training flight, the flight crashed near a canal and within 50 feet of homes. Both the pilot and student pilot were seriously injured and trapped inside the plane. The extrication took 90 minutes, after which one was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, and the other was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce.

    The plane’s owner is a New York surgeon who leases the piper to Paris Aviation.

    The passengers were in communication with the rescue team during the rescue, but were in serious condition on transport.

    Emergency Landing in S.C.


    Pictured: Delta Connection (Comair) Canadair CL-600-2C10 Regional Jet CRJ-701ER over Atlanta. This one is purely a guess on my part since the info is sketchy (so far) and no registration # yet. But this jet is both Comair and Delta and CRJ, and south, so we’re probably not too far off.

    Where: Myrtle Beach
    When: Jan 29
    Who: 17 passengers
    Why: While en route, the plane developed smoke in the cockpit and made an emergency landing in Myrtle Beach, about 100 miles north of Charleston.
