    Atlanta-Bound Delta Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Dulles Airport

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight 4916 had to make an emergency landing at Dulles International Airport in Virginia, around 26 miles west of downtown Washington, D.C.

    The flight en route from Westchester, NY to Atlanta, GA, took off at about 6am on May 20. Shortly after take-off, the crew discovered a problem in one of its engines.

    The Canadair CRJ-700 with 58 passengers diverted towards the Dulles International Airport where it made an uneventful emergency landing.

    The plane is being examined by the maintenance crews.

    Cessna Makes Emergency Landing in Oregon Hay Field

    CessnaA single-engine Cessna made an emergency landing in a hay field in Applegate Valley, Oregon, on the afternoon of November 2.

    The pilot decided to make an emergency landing after the aircraft experienced engine troubles. He was on his way from Grants Pass Airport to Long Beach, Southern California at the time.

    The authorities confirmed that the pilot, identified as James Nance, 57, remained unharmed, although, the plane flipped during landing.

    US Bound Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Egypt after Passenger Dies Aboard

    Saudi Arabian AirlinesA Saudi Airlines flight 021 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Cairo International Airport, Cairo, Egypt, on September 19th.

    The plane en-route to New York from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was mid-air above Cairo when the pilot reported that a passenger had fallen ill onboard.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    The passenger was already dead by the time he was taken to hospital.

    Jetstar Flight Diverts to Darwin International Airport

    JetstarJetstar flight JQ7 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Darwin International Airport, Australia, on December 21.

    The plane, en-route from Melbourne, Australia, to Singapore, experienced a brief period of turbulence after which, the pilot “identified a technical fault with one of the instruments on the flight deck and opted to divert to Darwin as a precaution,” an airline spokesperson said.

    The plane landed uneventfully. No injuries were reported.

    The aircraft was taken for examination.

    Malmo Aviation Plane Returns to Germany due to Gear Problem

    Malmo Aviation flight TF-9887 had to return for a safe landing at Cologne Bonn Airport, Cologne, North Rhine- Westphalia, Germany on February 13.

    The Avro RJ-100, heading from Cologne to Malmo, Sweden, was mid-air when the crew reported some problem with its gear, causing it to return.

    The plane landed safely.

    All people aboard remained unhurt.

    Southwest Airlines Diverts due to Flaps Flops

    On July 23, 2013, a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-300 en route from Kansas City to Indianapolis developed a problem with the flaps.

    Pilots diverted back to Kansas City and made an emergency landing. (See flight path below)

    None of the 54 aboard suffered injury.

    The flight eventually took off and arrived in Indianapolis at 1 a.m. with no indication if this was the same or a different jet.
