    Delta Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Hydraulic Leak

    Delta Airlines flight DL-181 made an emergency landing in Manila, Philippines, on July 18th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane flying from Narita International Airport, Japan, was descending toward Manila when the crew noticed a hydraulic leak.

    The plane landed safely and was towed to the apron. All one hundred and twenty passengers and nine crew members remained unharmed.

    Condor Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Dominican Republic

    condor airlinesCondor Airlines flight DE-3950 made an emergency landing in La Romana, Dominican Republic, on November 12th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane was flying from Munich, Germany, when the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    All 254 people aboard remained unharmed.

    Engine Icing Warning for 747 and 787

    Boeing warned 15 carriers to avoid flying the 747 and 787 near “high level thunderstorms” because of a risk of engine-icing problems. Six incidences of GEnx engines losing thrust at high altitude because of a buildup of ice crystals behind the front fan led to Boeing issuing a notice probating flying at high altitude within 50 miles of thunderstorms.

    In the meantime, GE and Boeing are working to control the problem.

    AtlasGlobal Plane Diverts to Turkey after Problem with Nose Gear

    AtlasGlobalAtlasGlobal flight KK-1019 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Antalya Airport, Antalya, Turkey, on April 14th.

    The Airbus A321-200, en-route from Ercan, Cyprus to Istanbul, Turkey, was mid-air when the crew detected a problem with the nose gear, prompting the plane to divert.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All passengers onboard remained unharmed.

    The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

    Serve Air Cargo Plane Makes Emergency Landing After Engine Failure

    A Serve Air Cargo plane made an emergency landing in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, on September 10th.

    The plane took off for Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, but had to turn back after an engine failure.

    The plane veered off runway while landing back in Goma. All four crew members remained uninjured.

    Who: 110 aboard
    Why: While en route the plane developed engine problems. One account says the pilot saw an engine on fire and contacted ATC for immediate clearance for an emergency landing.

    The official report says that the plane was experiencing engine surges.

    What matters is that the plane landed safely, with no casualties. A replacement plane was flown in.
